Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi! We are new here, and have found tons of useful information on our upcoming change of lifestyle!
We are about to change jobs which will allow us to be more mobile and are in the stages of selling things, buying things, making plans.
Has anyone been to this campground in Dauphin Island? We really would like to be in the Gulf Shores area but there are no dog-friendly beaches with the exception of Dauphin Island.
We have four, yes, four dogs. Two German Shepherds and two rescue mutts. We are up to the challenge!!
Woww.......2 full size shepards and 2 others.......thats alot of dog even in a 40 footer.......bless you!!
I have just one and was worried about acceptance within the parks and beaches, and she is a service dog!
I find most areas that do not have pet friendly beaches really do......they always are quick to let you know you cant be on this beach but never point out that 200 yards south its ok!!!!.....so keep in mind if it is not posted it is pet friendly......and dont forget to leash it and bag it!!

Just be aware that not all people are comfortable around large dogs. I am a dog lover but we decided after we lost our last dog that we didn't want the restrictions/responsibility of travelling with a dog. I recently had an experience with a next door camper. They had a standard schnauzer and standard poodle. The schnauzer was somewhat aggressive and I watched the owner struggling as he walked both. As we were walking to our coach one day the schnauzer ran at us and luckily was stopped by his leash only 2 feet from us, growling and barking jumping at us. And we were on our pad. The owner ran over and saw it was us and just grinned as he pulled his dog back. Next day it happened again so I yelled at him to control his dog. He finally got the message and moved his dog to the other side of his rv. Something like that can really ruin a fun camping experience. So please just be aware of other people. And no I'm not trying to discourage anyone from travelling with dogs, just remember that everything is a shared experience. Enjoy your new life!
Yes, we are well aware of people's reactions to our large dogs, especially the German Shepherds.
We are less concerned about our dogs than we are people that run up to us and say "hey can we pet your dog!" as they jam their hands in the dogs face. Yikes!
If the German Shepherds were not both professionally obedience trained, we would not even consider going on the road with them.
We will see how it goes, there may be a whole lot of boondocking in our future.
Ive been looking at campground websites just to see what the breed restrictions are, number of dogs, size of dogs, etc. We already know we are going to have some issues, but that's ok. I have friends in the Gulf Shores area that will take us and our mutts, and a few friends in South Florida that will have us......we will figure it all out...but thanks for the heads up!!
I havent seen any restrictions on German Shepherds............yet....................Im sure I will.
