Totally agree! If one doesn't do them; one may never get the chance!!!! I live and have lived in a motor-home since 1994 and still believe I have had more good times than bad. My signature line is my motto!!!!

Two days ago we spent several hours on the side of the road with our RV waiting for roadside assistance to find us help. Many calls later they came through with the "best guy ever" that got us fixed enough to tow the RV to a repair shop. All bearings we had just had serviced were done wrong and the first one went out less than 50 miles after we picked up the RV from the shop. Thank goodness a truck passed us honking like crazy because we had no sign of the failure. Disaster was avoided by mere minutes as the bearing was about to seize up. We pulled off the road on a nice large gravel strip that just happened to be right where we needed it to be. The above mentioned "best guy ever" repacked the bearing that had spit out all it's grease and checked all the other wheel bearings. Every wheel just barely turned when trying to spin the tire. He adjusted all the cotter pins made sure all tires spun right then followed us back to where we came from but to a DIFFERENT repair shop. We were going to Quartzite, AZ and I was about to sign up for the Boondocking Rally. Towing it over 1000 miles to get to Q through a lot of empty West Texas land has me freaked out a bit, so we are going on shorter trips till I feel the RV is sound again. Now the plan is to just go to some places in Texas and use the RV for a few weeks and make Quartzite next year. We were also foolish enough to let the shop replace the 6 year old tires. I figured this was their business and they knew the right tire. Anyone ever had experience with Deestone tires. I have googled and can't find any reviews.

timely post for me.
we're newbies here and to the 'life', we're been reading and thinking hard about going full time for a bit of time now.
yesterday we learned that dh's cancer is back and being aggressive, so he turned to me and said we're outta here--get the house sold and let's hit the road.
so for the next few months while the house is on the market he'll be getting treatment and when those two chores are done we're going for it. elderly dog and four cats and a couple of elderly hippies, that's us.
see ya on the road!

My wife and I are in our 40's, we decided to not wait for retirement and go live our dreams now. We'll make it work some how. Some folks think we are crazy but most think its great. My feeling is the next day of life isn't promised. I have lived and experienced life more in the last 18 months then the previous 10 years.

Congratulations. You never know what tomorrow may bring so if you are given the chance to live your dream, act on it. I don't think age is a factor here. Hope to meet up with you someday down the "road of dreams".

I retired in 2002 at the age of 62. I had planned on working a few more years but in the 2 or 3 years preceding 2002 three of my friends had died.
I decided then to retire from a high stress job/life style and try to enjoy life for a while.

We started full timing the same year. We had intended to travel for six months or so visiting friends and relatives some of whom we hadn't seen in years, then buy or build a house. We planned to locate where during the trip. But after a year we hadn't got around to looking and were having too much fun to stop traveling so we got a new motor home and became full timers.

I guess this is a lot of verbiage just to agree with Mike.

Do it while/when you can. We have been lucky enough to be able to full time for 11 years but a lot of friends and relatives have passed during that time.

Now we are transitioning to being snowbirds because we can foresee the need for a home base before too long. It has been a great ride though !!

tibbar: believe I would be having a long talk with the one who did the original packing of those bearings. However; when things go awry and one thinks back on it later; usually there is a reason. Never heard of Deestone tires;if the other were six years old; that was a good move. I try to make it a point to inform people that on multi-axle trailers; don;t take turns to tight as it makes the tire squirm on the wheel. This will cause one wheelto spin the opposite direction causing the belts to destroy the synthetics and rubber and separate which weakens the tire and makes it more apt to blow-out. Can also make the frame spring mounts pull the welds apart and break.

Mike is Ok'........as long as I have dreams unfinished and goals I have'nt met yet, I will keep going!!!!!

As I've told my family and friends.......When my time comes I will find that spot and sit down with Mother Earth,Look out over nature and join it!!!

Crisp linens and needle wielding Nurses just is not my way of going in peace.

Think about it.....would your rather finish up within 4 walls.....or traveling about chasing 4 seasons!!!!!!

In the 53 yrs of my life I have always made it a point to Enjoy get as close to perfect in everything I have done .......you cant plan the outcome but you can manage Quality control and get the best of it day to day!!!!!!

Instead of trying to think outside of the box........

would'nt it be simpler to just get out of it...... and get rid of the box!!!!!!!!!
