Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Toterhome?

Cheryl,

From what I have seen, they tend to be either Super C's like GENECOP has or a Class 8 semi-truck with a full box or partial box that could also tow a trailer.  Some of those can even be a toy-hauler RV.

You can use google images and type in "toterhome" and see all kinds of examples.

Gene or Jack Mayer can probably give you a lot more information.  Perhaps even Bill Joyce and some others as well.

Terry

Not sure where to post this...

I'm looking at all kinds of floorplans (something I do to keep the dream alive) and on one of the sites (rvt.com) which has an extensive collection of listings, they have toterhomes listed.  This is something that in my 2+ years of research I have never come across before.

Is anyone out there familiar with these?  It looks like a Class A on a semi truck chassis instead of a bus.  Any other information one could add?

Thanks

Since I posted this, been surfing more. Definitely not an option for me, but it may have potential for others.

What have you discovered that is making you rule out a Truck Conversion? We have had ours now for a couple of years and could not be happier, it suits our lifestyle perfectly....

A truck conversion to a class A (or class C) motorhome is different than a toterhome. By definition a toterhome is set up with a 5th wheel hitch at the back. With an extended living area behind the driving section of the truck. Typically they have a 6-20' "living section". While some people call a regular class 8 tractor set up to tow an RV a "toterhome" I would not consider it as such, since it does not have an extended "sleeper" section set up for true living.
