Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Mike, that's genius. It's one more example of why "can't" shouldn't be in your vocabulary.

I bought a small 1 quart crock pot at Walmart to use in the truck on my small 300 watt inverter. I found out that I could easily feed two or three using that small cooker. It was rated at 100 watts.

I don't think it costs much to build up a solar system, even a small portable one, that could generate 120 watts. I was reading a web page where a fellow built his own panels at a fraction of the cost of the manufactured ones. $105 for a 60 watt panel. The link below gives the basics. There are others that will walk you through solar cell selection and the assembly of the panel for the novice. You can't tie to the grid with a simple system but you can charge batteries and run a small inverter.

http://www.treehugger.com/renewable-energy/how-to-make-inexpensive-diy-home-built-solar-panels-with-damaged-solar-cells-from-ebay.html

I think this kind of content might make a good chapter in Jack's solar reference guide.

Hey, Mike.

I showed that picture to Jo and I got a somewhat dirty look.  I have this feeling that if push comes to shove, I'll have to start up the generator.
