Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

RV Transport companies

Dale and Ruth, when we looked for our 5er to replace our travel trailer, i was surprised when the salesman from michigan said "i can have that montana delivered to you for ..........", and we live in pensacola,fl! if you're buying your 5er from a dealer, i'm sure they can arrange to have it delivered to you. our charge was about $1500 added on to the entire cost, which sounded real good to me since it was the end of january and we moved to p'cola after 43 years in the snow-belt of central ny! check with your dealer, good luck. mark

Has anyone used an RV transport company?  Any recommendations or companies to avoid?  We are possibly buying our 5th wheel next week in OK and would want to get it back to the Seattle area.   We don't have a truck with a 5th wheel hitch yet and are trying to figure out what options we might have to get the rig home while we look for a truck.  Oh yeah, we're also not crazy about having to make that drive in the winter months.

Appreciate any suggestions.

most truckstops will have listings for hot shot services.........or I would call RV dealers in that area and see who they would refer..........be Careful on who you hire and make sure they are Commercially insured and have a PUC registration to pull the trailer for hire.

If you hire it out to someone to pull it you can be held liable if an accident occurs and there insurance rejects it or does not cover it

Mark & Mike - thanks for the input. I will check with the dealer, the other option we were considering was seeing if the dealer would keep the trailer for us until early spring when it would be a much better time to make the drive. Of course if our house sells before that, we'll end up with yet other issues, but wouldn't that be a nice problem to have???

That would be a great problem to have. Please be sure you get a truck that is bigger/tougher/stronger than you think you will need. (At least that is MY take onmtheposts i'vse read on here!)

Mike - one more question as I re-read your post, what does PUC stand for?

Fergs - one more step, but this one feels like a really big step!!

Ruth,

Check out places like uship.com. You list what you want shipped and shippers bid on your load. Just an option to consider.
