Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Does any one have any advice on how to adjust the door on a Dometic fridge? The freezer is closing tight, but the fridge door does not and the light is staying on, (the light is visible at the top of the fridge door when closed). You can see that the bottom of the door needs to be moved about 1/4" to the right. It almost seems as though the whole thing is not square. Any words of wisdom on how to square it up?
The fridge was installed almost 2 years ago by the previous owner It was only used for a couple months before being put into storage.
The top hinge and bottom hinge have three mounting screws. You have to take off decorative trim to get to the screws. I would loosen the screws to the point where you can move the hinge and it stays in place (barely loose screws). Position the door where it needs to be by moving the hinges to square it up, adjust the hinges to hold that position and retighten the screws. You may need to try this a couple of times to get it right.
Use the dollar bill test to check the door. Place a dollar bill across the door seal, close the door if the dollar bill is a little hard to slip out you should have a good seal. Check top, bottom and middle seal.
Sometimes the bottom hinge bends down due to the weight of stuff stored on the door or if the door swings open during travel. You may need to bend the hinge carefully back in to place or replace it. Be careful of the plastic doodad that holds the door onto the hinge. It's easy to break.

Thanks Terry, it's a Dometic NDM-1062. We have an RV service center coming on Thursday to take a look at it. We have to get it fixed before we hit the road. It's got to be a big draw on the batteries.
Thank you Bear, I think everything is ok now. we had to but a little rubber bumper on the switch, to make it make contact with the door. Doing the dollar test all seems tight.
wow----- good call BearII, that is what I love about this site---someone has already done it and is willing to share their knowledge to help others, awesome.
