Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hi,We have lived in Nevada for the past 14 yrs, mostly in the Las Vegas area. We fulltime, but have been traveling 4 mos a year and are static 8, for the past two years. I have stayed at a nice park in Verdi, which used to be part of the Terrible Herbst company, but  don't know what the current name is. There is a great lakeside park in Pahrump, about 60 miles W. of Vegas, also part or the Herbst group, now simply called Lakeside RV Resort. It is a comfortable place to stay. A lake in the middle of the desert, and a good base to explore Death Valley. It is, however about 5 mi in from the highway, but is worth the trek. There are also several other parks in Pahrump to look at, including one right next to a Winery, which I understand is undergoing a major renovation, just now. Also one called Nevada Treasure. Depending on what you are RV'ing in, lengthwise, there is a super BLM place on Mt. Charleston, called Fletcher View. Small, but about half of the spaces can be reserved on line. This time of year you might get in, but you must check the weather carefully, because it is at 7000' elevation. When we are static here, we stay at Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort. In my opinion, the best place to stay in L.V.,all things considered. Great weekly and longer rates, they now take Passport America for short stays, and the people working here are just super. Gated security 24/7. There is a nice place right on Lake Meade, which I think is listed in Boulder City, as well as a Place much further up on the lake on a bay,(Caville Bay, I think) that is most likely listed under Mesquite. Also in Mesquite, there are commercial campgrounds just off I-15. www.rvparkreviews.com is a great source. In between Reno and Las Vegas, on the 95, there is something in Hawthorne, attached to a Casino, but given the locale, I'd expect it to be very basic. There is also a BLM boondock area near the lake in the vacinity of Hawthorne, as I recall. As you probably know, the areas between Reno and Las Vegas are quite rural,to put it mildly. Hope this was of some use to you.

Travel safe, Richard

richard. thanks all the spots. yes, (we're in reno) and know the drive to vegas is sparse. we haven't quite got on the road yet(short a few pennies) ha but are tracking all the spots we may want to keep in mind. we did go to pahrump and saw a couple nice spots. haven't been to mesquite, but that's on the list too. have you ever stayed in reno? we have friends that stay at the sparks marina, and the rivers edge, seen nice enough.
anyway, thanks again, enjoy your journeys!! michele

Check on the RV Dreams home page for Howard & Linda's campground reviews for Nevada, there are several there. It appears they MAY have stopped updating it for 2012 but I could be wrong as I frequently am.

Sadly in 49 nights in Nevada we have not found anyplace that excited us.  Worked for us, yes, but excited, no.  The campground at Great Basin National Park has a couple big rigs sites and was nice, but those sites are hard to get.  On a different day and not being in a hurry we might have liked Sunrise Valley RV Park in Mina more since the campsites were huge and the people nice.

hi bill, boy Mina is a tiny spot huh? I"m thinking that Nevada really isn't a "hot" spot for rv"ers, perhaps just a "passing thru" kind of place. we look out side of the area, more on the lines of az., wa., , and my all time high would be to "someday" be able to get to south dakota. may just be a dream, but it's mine! ha thanks for the feed back. cheers, michele

Michelle,
We love our 36' Big Country but in our particular model the counter space for kitchen work is limited. Lots of living space inside inside and a VERY comfortable rig for us.

The Verde Valley is S. of Flagstaff, AZ (about an hour) and two hours north of Phoenix. Verde means green in Spanish and its truly a green Vally unlike the brown hills of Phoenix & Tucson.

Enjoy your travels!

Sherry
