Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi all: We just bought our first full time RV. Older but in very good shape. Not going to move it for a while but that is OK. Hubby is still active duty military and we have about 6 months left if he doesn't get extended. So for now we are going to live in it locally, get used to it and start fixing it up a bit. Hubby is going to take an RV mechanic course that lasts 2 years. He'll be ready to start working on them right after he finishes. He is already pretty good at that stuff.
I run our home business and ride horses as much as I can. I also volunteer a lot and keep up with both our sons who are also in the Military. Have to stay busy right? Glad to have found this forum.
Welcome to the forums at RV Dreams. Wish you had posted at least a first name as I usually like to address folks in that way instead of by an impersonal username. However, as you become comfortable with us, that may yet come about.
We welcome any questions and comments that you may have. If your husband is already fixing some things on the RV's, I'm sure that he will also be able to contribute here as well.
Jo and I are fellow Okies. We were pretty much born and raised in Oklahoma and currently live in the Oklahoma City area. If there is any way we can help you, feel free to ask.
Glad to have you as part of the "family" of dreamers and dream livers.
Oh, and thanks to your husband and children for their service to our country. Thanks also to you for the sacrifices that you have made over the years as a spouse of a military serviceman. Seeing as your username indicates "Gunny's wife," I'll refrain from Marine jokes, even though I am a U.S. Army veteran and it tempts me so much.
Terry

Thank you for the welcome. We are not actually Okie's. Hubby is stationed here. We are really Oregonians. :} I will tell them. Yes he has never heard any Marine jokes. LOL He is actually in the Army now but was a Marine for 11 years and will always be one, with a big break in-between. Both our sons are Army but wish they had gone Marines too. It ain't what it used to be. :}
Glad to meet you, Victoria. But, don't worry, once one has lived in Oklahoma for some time, a lot of folks begin to think like the rest of us and begin to think of this state as home as well.
If you are ever in need of advice or suggestions, feel free to ask, even if you choose to use the private message feature of the forum instead of out in the open. The private message feature is found by clicking on the username of the party with whom you want to communicate and at the bottom under their profile is a link to the private message form.

I've been a member of another (non_RV) forum for years and years, and over time I've met a large number of the other members in person. It's funny... even in person we refer to each other by our user names. LOL So I answer to Night or nightsky or N*S as easily as I do to Caryn.(Night*sky was my trail name when I started backpacking back in the early 70's, and it's stuck ever since)
Welcome, Victoria! I mainly lurk, but there's a fine bunch of very helpful folks on here.
Hello nightsky and thank you all for the welcome. I really don't mind what people call me as long as it's not "late for the trail ride" lol Yes I am a horse person. I really appreciate you all thanking me also for my service. A lot of folks don't realize how much the family's give too and for me it's a triple threat. haha
Seriously though, I am just thankful to have them all home for a change. It has been a very long five years.

Welcome to the forum Victoria, we are currently living on famcamp on Charleston AFB, Jay retired in '07 and has been working as a gov't civ' doing the same job since then. We are just hanging on in here to pay a couple more bills off then we will be fulltime travelling the USA. Our oldest is in the Navy, deployed right now, but they will be moving back to the mainland next year after 5 years in HI, so we are looking forward to having them closer! Must be nice to have all your 'boys' home
Lots of great help/advice from the good people here, don't hesitate to ask, as Terry says questions from one can be a help for many.
