There are actually multiple ways to do blogs/trip journals.  It kind of depends upon how much you want to work with things and how "flexible" your blog/journal is desired to be.  In my case, it was not a case that I needed to create and maintain a travel journal, so I first started out with Blogger.  I've since moved over to Wordpress because I am concerned with all the "data mining" that the Google company is involved with in trying to find out more about private individuals. 

If all you want to do is do a trip journal with the occasional picture or two, My Trip Journal is one that is used by a number of RV'ers.  Following are a couple of different RV'ers using that method of keeping a journal.

I have no idea of how My Trip Journal works with regards to putting in text and pictures or working with the maps that are available with that site, so, for any questions along that line, you may have to find someone that is using that system.  Perhaps someone here on RV Dreams can answer any questions about that system.

Within that forum thread, I received the advice to use a free program called Live Writer from Microsoft.  While I don't know if you might be dealing with an Apple product, perhaps there are other programs that would be similar.  At the moment though, Microsoft may discontinue the production of Live Writer, so it looks like I need to do some more research on that.  The link below takes one to a site where other options are listed that can be used in place of Live Writer.  From some of the comments below the article, it looks like Microsoft Word even has some kind of feature.

In the past, I've done my rough draft for a posting in Microsoft Word because it has the best grammar and spell checker.  Once my draft was written, I copied and pasted the text over into Live Writer.  There, I chose the font style and size and then added in any video, photos, or links that I wanted within a posting.  Once done with that, I could click "Publish" and because Live Writer was set up properly, it automatically published my text, pictures, links and videos directly to the blog.

However, both Blogger and WordPress have their own ways of writing and inserting posts.  Blogger is certainly free, and for the most part WordPress is as well.  However, it looks like one would have to pay something to have the ability to customize one's blog.  Otherwise, one chooses a "theme" to establish a "look" to one's blog.  Blogger may be the same with themes, but I had mine chosen as a custom format and created my own look.
