Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
This is the first forum we have ever joined, so be patent with us as we stumble around. Right now we live in Wa and have a marine electronics business that takes up all of our time, but plan on putting our house on the market later this month. (have to finish painting and mucking out some junk )As soon as the house goes, we plan on closing the business, getting a 5th wheel and hitting the road.
The hard part right now is sorting through 35 years of treasures and junk. I love to cook and have about 300 cook books and way too many kitchen toys. We'll see how creative I can get with stashing stuff in FW.
Hank and I have both camped our whole lives, my first trip was to Mt Whitney when I was 2 weeks old. Together we have tent camped, backpacked, boated and now have a 21' Sprinter with a Geo Tracker as toad. Nice, but looking forward to more room for us and the dogs.
We look forward to meeting some of you at the Oregon ralley in September. Thanks for the great forum.
Welcome! I too LOVE to cook and LOVE cookbooks. It's not the same as browsing through cookbooks, but the internet is a great source of new recipes. In order to take all those treasured family recipes and favorites from my cookbook collection with us on the road I purchased Living Cookbook 2012. It's easy to use and takes up lots less space than the recipe box. And maybe one day it will allow me to finish up that ongoing project of publishing a cookbook of family favorites.

Thanks for the hint Carol. It sound just right to keep everything organized. Right now I just save everything on the hard drive, some recipes at work and some at home. They are only in alphabetical order, not by catagory. This software sounds like it would work great. A few years ago we bought into a farm share program were we got a box of vegies every week for about 28 wks. I made a binder of all the menues and recipes that i fixed. I tried to come up with new ways to fix everything, sooo if any one wants a new way to fix swiss chard, let me know. It grows very well here on the Olympic Peninsula and we got it almost every week.
WELCOME to the forum and your new life of freedom on the road . The folks here are the best and always willing to share their knowledge. So as you begin your sprint to hit the road check back in on a regular basis.

Welcome to the forums. It looks like you are already getting welcomed by others and getting tips as well. As the others have alluded to, this is a place with a lot of knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful folks.
Not knowing what your plans are after retiring and selling the business, but you might consider the possibility of purchasing your RV and tow vehicle (if you actually go with a fifth wheel) in another state. While it might have some drawbacks of doing it that way, you could avoid some of California's taxes and vehicular restrictions.
Just a thought.
Feel free to ask questions, do as much reading as you can, and check into the blogs of some of the forum participants. You will be surprised at the amount of knowledge you will absorb by reading of other's successes and mistakes.
Howard and Linda have a LOT of information on their website. From the home page, check out the "Site Map" area and see all the topics they cover. Another good website to check our is Jack Mayer's as he covers a wide range of topics. Technomadia (that is Cherie's and Chris's username) has a lot of information about internet and phone stuff.
Shoot, there's lots of folks with a lot available to learn from as you do your research. Have fun and welcome to the "family."

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Terry, we will probably take Nevada as our home base, as we have kids and family in the Reno area. We now live on the Olympic Peninsula in WA. (Left Ca about 17 yrs ago.) Washington does not charge unsecured property tax and neither does NV. I still need to find out about online renewals in NV and if in Reno we have to have vehicle inspections. I know that in the Seattle area you have tgo have smog checks, but out here on the peninsula you don't. So much to look into, and the info on this forum is wonderful. Ann
I wish to join in welcoming you to this forum. We have been full-time for over a year now, after selling our house. We were very lucky. The man who bought our house bought everything in it We too have a business we run and had it sold. Sale fell through,so after traveling for three months, cross country & back, we will return to Vegas to operate it 'till June, when we will shut it down & hit the road for good. We have a great place to stay in Vegas, which gives extended stay customers a great deal.Even when we are done, we will most likely spend a few months there,as well. Our experiences both in living in our rig and travelling cross country & back, twice, have been positive. I do like to share that you need to remember that once your RV becomes "home", getting it fixed or serviced becomes something you have to plan for. Whatever rig you get, make sure you have a strong dealer for service, and if you are going to be at long distances, a manufacturer who has a good dealer network,or will allow reputable mobile services to help if you need it.(If new and under warranty).
The rest of it will fall into place for you,as it did us.All the logistical problems like mail, phone, Internet and even TV are easily solved. If time permits begin to read some of the archival material. A tremendous source of info.
Best,
Richard
