Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Well, not actually homeless since we have the rig…but we are sticks and bricks-less. Closed yesterday afternoon and are working hard this weekend getting the last stuff loaded in the rig (on the hottest 3 days of the year, 104 here in Fairfax today). We head out on our adventures Monday but will be in the local area for 3 weeks before heading up towards the Hudson River Valley in NY for our first real stop.
We can finally see an end to all the work/stress we've been having the past few months. Both of us are pretty worn down and we plan on moving to the RV park at Lake Fairfax on Monday and then just veg out until Thursday when we'll start the final house cleanup for turnover on July 19. Connie has a week in LA starting on the 16th and as soon as she gets back in town we're on the road.
Congrats on the house sale! From our experience the preparation, listing and sale of the house is a huge hurdle along the road to fulltiming. We're now going on our 4th month in our new life and don't miss the house one bit!

Thanks all; it has been quite a hurdle the past couple of months what with selling stuff, donating stuff, running out to Kansas to pick up the rig, getting the house on the market, etc, etc, etc.
We're pretty much done now though; just a few last things to pack up tomorrow and it's off to the local RV park on Monday. We'll veg a couple of days then get into the final donation coordination and cleanup and hit the road July 23 after Connie gets home from LA.
Unfortunately our plans to leave and shift to the RV park on last Monday were foiled by Mother Nature. I'm sure ya'll saw on the news about the huge power outages in the mid-Atlantic states after the thunderstorms last Friday and they hit here in Fairfax as well. The sticks and bricks power went out Friday about 10PM and came back Saturday about 8PM so we were good to go…until we found out that the RV park has no power and no water (well pumps don't work without power). So we're still waiting on them to get power back before we leave. At this point we had pretty much moved everything out into the rig last Sat/Sunday and we're having to run out and bring in food for meals as we need it. It's supposed to have power back tomorrow; if so we will make the move either tomorrow or Friday. We're shifting parks on Sunday anyway; the first one was only supposed to be open until the 8th before closing for maintenance (since delayed) so we have reservations at Bull Run campground for another 2 weeks…if we can't move tomorrow we may just stay put here at the house until Sunday; no reason to move just to move again 2 days later; although I gotta tell you this camping out at the S&B is getting kinda old.
Glad to hear you sold your house but sad to hear of the stress level the electric outage is adding to you. We are decluttering the house now and come spring the house will have a for sale on it! Wow can't believe I am saying that. But soon we too will be going down the road your about to leave. Good Luck to you and hoping to meet up with you within the next year or so. Take care and safe travels.
We finally made it out from the driveway on Sunday; safely parked at Bull Run Campround livin' the dream. Went on a couple bike rides and a trail run…went back today to finish cleaning up the house and meet Am Vets for our final donation pickup…and the house is officially empty. Since we already closed it gets turned over to the new owners on Wednesday next week while Connie is in CA for her professional society meeting. She gets back on Saturday and we're rolling north towards upstate NY on Sunday although we'll take 3 weeks to get there with stops in PA and NJ on the way to visit folks and sightsee.
We're so glad that the house sale/move/clean process is done…we might even get out one day this weekend in the kayak for a paddle.
FlaNet RV Park in Flanders; will arrive there on Aug 4. There's an RV Dreamer (Lyn on the forum) who lives near there and it's about halfway from Philly to upstate NY so we're stopping by so they can see our New Horizons which is what they're planning on purchasing. If you're near there stop on by.
Neil, you might also want to refer them to my website in the New Horizons section. Plus, I'd be happy to answer any questions (as I'm sure you will too).

We are about 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia going south toward Atlantic City. I will have to check the map.

They're active members here and I'm sure have already checked your site out; but will make sure they have the url just in case.
