Our convection oven takes nearly 10 minutes to preheat. It sounds a little bell and on the display shows "Ready".
Other than waiting for it to preheat, I just follow the instruction for temp and time on the box or bisquit tube. The Pilsbury Grands canned bisquits come out perfect at 350 degrees, 17 minutes on fan bake mode (function) in ours.
Cakes, frozen foods/meals, meat, casseroles usually work by just following the baking instructions on the box or recipe. Once in a while I will have to cook something longer (usually 5 more minutes) to get the internal temperature to the correct level or brown it a little more.

I could use some suggestions on cooking in a convection oven. I have never used one before and when we bought our rig there was no manual for it. I have checked on line with no luck for our model. I tried some canned biscuits, preheated the oven wasn't sure if I had let it preheat long enough. Baked the biscuits per directions and baked a little longer, not so good and they really didn't brown. Thanks for any suggestions.
If you use the Search feature on this forum & type in convection, you'll find several threads about convection oven cooking. Here's a link to a website that I've used to convert regular recipe temperatures to convection http://convection-calculator.com/
