Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
If you travel around the internet reading and joining forums you may recognize my user name - FastEagle - because I’m a joiner. I do use other names but that one is used most often.
I don’t have a canned introduction. It evolves with time. Might be close, similar or look just like others. I assure you I do not have it memorized.
In 2002 after living in Jacksonville, FL for 19 consecutive years and building two homes from the ground up we decided to sell everything and go RVing. We did a lot of homework - not nearly enough - and decided on the fifth wheel. We did not want any truck larger than one ton so that hampered our super fiver dreams. In the end we got a three slide Everest with a 14.1K GVWR. We added a washer/dryer and upgraded the single AC to 15K to help offset the W/D weight. The specs say the trailer is 37’3”. Actually from the back edge of the ladder to the leading edge of the hitch protrusion it’s 37’10”. We have always called it our 38 footer. It now has over 70,000 road miles and has been very durable. It and our Dodge Dually have, on average, a GCW of 22,000#. Our truck is rated at 23,000# GCWR with the auto 4.10 combination.
A few years ago we came off the road and now reside in a small manufactured home community in the SC foothills just 50 miles north of Asheville, NC. It’s a 55+ age restricted community and all yard work including trimming and blowing is provided, so that worry is out of our minds while off roaming around the country.
I have a number of RV related blogs and will post them as I get situated in this forum. I’m a prolific RV tire poster. We have some hobbies that are easy to do on the road and I’ll post them in those forums. Long winded at times too so I’ll quit and give you time to digest.
Sounds like you'll have tons of good information to share on the RV Dreams forum. Feel free to jump in and give us your words of wisdom. I'm always looking for good timely info!
I welcomed you elsewhere, but then I got to thinking that you might not check back to that category. So, allow me to welcome you again. From what I've seen of your comments so far, you will likely be a valuable source of information for the rest of us.
Welcome to the forums.
Terry
