Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Short Story

While in Myrtle Beach this past February we decided to get some service work done , oil change, Lube, and we had a Slow leak in the front left tire (driver side). We headed for Triple T service in Wilmington NC about 30 miles from Myrtle Beach. Dropped our Rig off in the morning then went to do some sight seeing. About 3pm the phone rang, Butch from Triple T said things where coming along and if I where sure about the tire leak. I assured him it was a problem, I usually run 120lbs in the front, after about a month, only in that tire I end up with 60lbs.....We got back around 5:00pm to pick up our Rig, I asked about the tire, Butch said it was a sensor leak, we have a HawksHead TPMS. They repaired and charged us $66.00. The next day we where putting our Rig back in storage in Myrtle Beach and flying back to NY. This Friday the 13th we just flew back down to Myrtle Beach, pulled into the storage yard and guess what.....60 lbs of pressure in the front left tire....so I called Butch at Triple T in Wilmington. He said I must have hit a nail in that tire on my way back from them last month. Then he went on to explain they do not warranty tires.....what could I say, a coincidence ? 30 miles and I got a nail in the one tire that was leaking.

Ya right I'll buy that one! Sounds to me they charged you $66.00 to put air in your tire.

Sounds like the folks at Triple T need a lesson in good customer service.

Gene, as a service to others (me too) go to www.rvservicereviews.com and let everybody know who to avoid or go to while in the area.

You have to read all the reviews for a particular place to get down to the real truth.

Update, while in Myrtle Beach I went to Magnolia Tire in Loris, explained what happened and let them take a look. After 10 minutes and pulling the tire they determined it was the TPMS Sensor.....the same one Triple T said they changed, they showed me the leak, wrote it up, I will now send Triple a copy of the invoice showing the same thing they did .....BTW Magnolia was a real nice Honest place.......

Eugene, I am sorry to hear that you were less than satisfied with your recent experience with our service repairs. While I somewhat understand Butches response due to the hazards on the roads effecting tires and the time that had elapsed, I also understand yours since this is the same tire that we repaired while you were here. It is our ultimate goal for you to be satisfied with your experience here at Triple T. If you will verify your address I would be happy to reimburse you the $66 that we charged you for this repair. I would also ask if possible for you to fax (910-254-0660) or e-mail me a copy of the bill where you got the tire repaired the second time so that I may go back to my vendor that I had repair it here. Again we apologize for any inconvenience this may have cause and look forward to serving you in the future.

Thanks,

Gene,

It is great that the leak is fixed.  Considering the danger of running on underinflated tires, I would imagine that you are now very relieved.  Glad you were persistant.

You'll have to let us know what Triple T has to say if and when you get a reply.

That sounds fair to me! When I worked as a project manager I often said it's not the mistake happened because they do, it's how the mistake is made right. It sounds like Triple T is trying to make it right.

I do agree, that being said there are two options here as to what actually happened. #1 they never changed anything and charged me anyway......#2 they changed the part and never checked it....Now while neither situation is a big confidence builder, I believe #1 is inexcusable.......

In 1974 I moved from Nebraska to Wisconsin in a new (
I would imagine that testing the TPMS sensor would involve airing up the tire, then letting air out until the sensor squawks. If the tire gets too low without any warning sound, then the sensor is defective. Is this correct?

Yes, this sensor however was leaking air out of a small seam in the actual sensor......
