Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hi! no more lurking

Hello everyone!

After long researches we (me-Patricia- and husband Bill) just bought our first 5th wheel and truck. I lurked a lot, really a lot, here and it helped us decide which RV type will be best for us.

We bought a 33ft Jayco Eagle which is still at the dealership and a Ford F-350 Lariat turbo diesel long bed. We also have a private driving class scheduled in May (just one day before my birthday) and then... we are RVers!!! Happy birthday to me ;)

A few weeks ago, we attended the Good Sam Rally on Phoenix and had a great time. We went to many seminars and made great connections with vendors. All the Rvers we met were friendly and had big smiles across their face. Which told us we have done the right choice. The RV lifestyle makes people happy and healthy.

We are very excited about the new life ahead of us. I have zero-null-nada camping experience (I am from Paris, France) but I know that I will love it (because of the bathroom and the comfortable bed). For the last 13 years, we have been living in Phoenix. Suffering from the heat and from our suburban neighbors. Both kept us prisoners of our house that we now hate. We can’t wait to see them all in our rear view mirror ;)

My husband spent most of his life in the US Navy. I am in the US since 13 years and have seen very little. We were so busy working to pay for our house and all the crapola inside :( while there is so many wonderful places to discover and great people to meet!!!

Our plan is... until the end of this year, we are going to get used to the RV and enjoy extended week-ends, holidays and the few vacation days we have. A the same time, let go of the crapola (that’s going to be a huge task!). At this time, Bill will be eligible for an early retirement. I am quite a few years from retirement age, but my job will let me telecommute. I also have a jewelry business where I work with art galleries. I plan to expand by doing art shows and selling online, then hopefully let go of the telecommute job. We will then sell this house-burden and will go full time.

We are both convinced this is the lifestyle we want. We already have worked hard to get it, and will work even harder in the next few months. Then, enjoy it with a big grin!

Now that I am not lurking anymore, I can say a big thank you for the help I already got here. And I'll be back for more, hoping that one day I'll be knowledgeable enough to give back to the community.

Patricia

Welcom Patricia,

Glad to have you aboard. smile

Hope all your plans work out. Be sure to ask questions as they come up. The weekend trips will help you get familiar with your rig.

Good luck,

Welcome, Patricia.

It looks like you have been here long enough to be a part of the family, but it is really nice that you are now an active participant.  This "family" is really helpful and knowledgeable.

Glad to have you with us.

Terry

Hello and welcome to the family. You have a lot of work ahead of you but believe me it will be worth it in the end. Just keep the image of that view in the rearview mirror in your mind.

My husband also retired after 30 years in the Navy. He still misses it today.

Hope to see you down the road one day.
