Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Forced into Alternative Power

evileyecry I will try to stay non-political as possible! The ?: How many feel that high-level society is forcing the citizens to convert to alternative energies?

I believe change is good in most cases; trying to force the average citizen to make the changes seem quite unaffordable for most.

The basic RV is very expensive and the addition of solar and the components have been introduced since the late 1980's. Also Intelli-converters and inverters, lower amperage AC's and lighting.

I believe the media has become strong-headed recently about fossil fueled vehicles. The Government should have been the 1st to have all the vehicles fueled by alternatives before making it look like it is the citizens responsibility. What is your Take on This? Pieere

Just going with flow, if it saves ME money, I am all for it, that UNFORTUNATELY is the world we live in, unless you are independently wealthy you must consider what is best for your own situation. G

IMO the human drive to make life more efficient is the force behind the ever increasing technology we now have in everything including automobiles and RVs. This has allowed automobiles to last much longer now. Efficient use of energy is just one of those advancing technologies as is "Alternative" energy technology.

Do we need to develop alternative energy.....yes
Are we being forced in that direction before it is proven.....yes

Here's my 2 cents....I guess due to inflation it now equates to 5 cents.

Everytime I think about going to alternative energy, I look up and see an over the top neon sign for a business and wonder why they aren't being forced to cut back. Look at Las Vegas, Lauglin, Branson, Atlantic City, Times Square, Disneyland parks...... why should I cut back.

I'm predicting we will see electric powered MHs readily available within the next 5 years. This company already has a Hybrid platform easily convertible to MH. http://www.enovasystems.com/home.html

Nothing would thrill me more than to stick a water hose in my RV's fuel tank and let it convert it to hydrogen power and take me down the road.

Sadly, that technology is 10-20 years down the road. So why force us into forms of energy that don't work well (ie: Biodiesel, which drops my mpg avg. 2-3 mpg)? Or economically unsustainable forms of green energy that cannot last without government subsidies and tax breaks?

It becomes a political hot potato and hurts us all in the process. Sadly, it seems the government (all parties) are no longer about "We, the people", but which special interest group can supply the most re-election money.
