Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hello

A quick hello and introduction -- DH and I have enjoyed reading RV-Dreams.com for several months. I recently started asking some questions in the forum and I realized that I never introduced myself.

First, a VERY BIG THANK YOU to Howard and Linda. Reading the RV-Dreams journal and understanding their lifestyle inspired us to initially consider and ultimately decide that we would full-time RV when we retire (i.e., it has been an exciting couple of months, since we first read Howard and Linda’s journal and started our serious researching into RV manufactures, lifestyle considerations, etc.). We are obviously very excited as we plan for retirement. We will be jumping into full-time RVing with both feet (we never owned or rented an RV) – but have NO hesitations making the change.

In preparation for full-time RVing, we are reading RV-Dreams, other RV focused websites and several blogs as well as subscribed to RV Consumer Group (which I found invaluable, to help further focus our research on the RV manufactures that would best meet our needs.) Additionally, I started de-cluttering the house (which surprisingly feels very good) – throwing out items, starting donation piles, etc. Given the amount of “stuff” we have, it is one of the only reasons that I am happy that we have several years before we retire (i.e., it will make it more manageable to prioritize what actually “stuff” we should keep, digitize photos and documents that I would like bring with us, etc.)

The wealth of knowledge and people’s willingness to share information on RV-Dreams.com is very impressive. We have already learned so much and I know we have much more to learn. I look forward to “speaking” with many of you via RV-Dream as well as potentially in-person at a RV-Dream’s Rally or otherwise in the future.

Welcome to the forum Lyn! Ask away on the questions. I can't tell how many times someone asks a questions that I didn't think of but wanted to know the answer. By the time you hit the road in a couple of years you'll be pros at RVing!

Welcome to the fourm, Lyn.

Take your time, do your research and you should be fine. 2 years may seem like a long time to get ready to hit the road, but you'll be surprised how fast it will go.

Jim

Hi Lyn, We just started decluttering our house my niece is getting married in July and we've gone through almost 70 lbs of photos. Thank God she is taking most of them and distribute them to her brothers and sister. Clothes are next on the list. Furniture not so much as we are going to be extended travelers but not sure if a condo or townhouse will be our home. Of course we might end up full timers but DW isn't sure yet. Good luck and welcome

Thank you Ken, Jim and Yonnie for the welcome!

We are very excited as we think about and plan for our future RV adventures and lifestyle change … the next couple of years will pass quickly but at the same time slowly. Fortunately, we are already living vicariously--and learning so much--through the stories and information shared on RV-Dreams and several RV Blogs.
