Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Its a busy time then. You will enjoy it. On your route is Karchner Caverns in Benson, AZ and White Sands in Alamogordo, NM and Carlsbad Caverns. Tombstone and Bisbee in SE AZ are worth a look if you haven't been. Chiricawa (spelling?) is really cool too in SE AZ.
By the time the car show starts the RV Show will have come and gone so the town will not be as crazy busy as it gets during those 2 weeks. There's not much else to do there in town but there are hiking, geocaching, 4-wheeling, rock hunting and similar activities in the area.
We used to go to "Q" every year for a couple of weeks in January. We even sold products for two years at one of the flea markets during the month of January.
The draw for "Q" during the 80's and into 2000s were the rock shows, flea markets, and RV shows. You could find anything from junk to luxury. Lots of craft items and new or unique products. It was a shoppers dream. You had to spend at least 4 days just to visit all of the shopping areas. We went every year.
When the economy began to die, so did "Q". We haven't been there for about 5 years, the last time was so disappointing that we just haven't been able to convince ourselves to go again. Here's how I would describe it.... let's say that in 1995 a visit to "Q" was a 9 on a scale from 1 to 10. Our last visit was about a 4. It would be like going to Disneyland and discovering half of the rides were closed for repairs. Now to someone going to "Q" for the first time it might be a 9 just because it's so unique of an adventure.
The area is a small desert town in a valley surrounded by hills. There are many places to camp and the usual eating establishments you find at an offramp from a freeway. Truckstops, fast food, convenience stores and repair shops. Not much too see except when the rock shows, flea markets & RV show are up and running during January into February.

Everyone seems to have a different Q experience. We love to dry camp and meet new people while we follow favorable weather conditions most of the time. So our BLM camping experience was very nice and we enjoyed walking 1/2 mile to the fleamarket areas for a couple of hours and seeing what is out there in RV stuff, games, exquipment, etc. But the RV show bulge is often a little much when the population in the camping areas triples or quadruples overnight with too many vacationers who don't seem to have decent RV manners. Mix in a couple of rain storms, floods and high winds and it could be a little too exciting for some and boring to others. Larry and Jacki
