Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

I don't know if this would be the problem, but the newer check valves on the LPG cylinders are supposedly more sensitive.  I've been told to be sure and open them V-E-R-Y slowly to prevent them from snapping shut.

I have had that happen to me a time or two.  Unlike previous check valves, I don't hear mine at all when they close.  You might try closing the valves for a few minutes and then open them slowly and carefully.

Now, having said all of that, are you getting gas at the cookstove and the hot water heater?  If you are getting gas and flame there, then something else is the problem.

Good luck.  Oh, and welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  There are a lot of knowledgeable folks here, so one of them should be of help to you.

Terry

possible that there is some air in the LP lines as well. Light the stove burner and let it burn for minute or so and then try the furnace again.

  Terry is absolutely correct.

I work for an LPG dealer we refill cylinders as well as RV parts you'd be suprised how many people come to purchase new regulators because of the excess flow valves (check valves) closing because in a system devoid of gas the flow through the valve is enough to close it off to any fuel flow. This was mandated by the powers who be to insure that the individual who had the tendency to burn there hoses only lost a small amount of LP instead of the full tank.

Here is a link that helped us solve the problem: Gary Motley's Propane Safety & Use.

Scroll down to the section Towable Propane Systems.  Read that section very carefully and then proceed to How To Fix The Situation.

It has to do with a built-in "flow limiting device" and the propane system equalizing itself by building up back pressure.

This diagnosis and fix has worked for us and several others that read about it on our Propane Lessons Journal entrysmile

It MAY not be your issue, but it's worth a shot.

capnconk, are you on the Heartland Owners' Forum? If not, you ought to be. Go to http://www.heartlandowners.org/forum.php and register. You can join a group that is specific to your particular Heartland brand, as well as the general forum. Lots of helpful people there. They have certainly helped me several times.
