Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

I am a single mother/woman in her mid 40s who is hoping to RV full time. My youngest will leave home in a couple years to go to school and I plan to RV full time then.

Work virtually for a company now and hoping to continue with them full time while living the RV lifestyle. Have been researching RVs and have my heart set on a Roadtrek - a used one.. cannot afford a new one. Saving up and working longer hours to buy one next year. Plan to take small trips with my daughter and dog preparing for the lifestyle and 2 years from now, go full time.

Have gone a little nuts downsizing making the kids believe I am going senile and we have pared our belongings down to one very small condo.

Hoping to learn and make new friends here.

Welcome to the Dreamers forum vagabondishlady. A friendly bunch around here. It's that time of year when people start heading for warmer climates and new jobs. Wish I could find a virtual job that came with a paycheck. Consider yourself very lucky to have a job that can be done anywhere. Roadtrek is one of the rigs we were thinking of downsizing into as we transition to part-timers.

Hello and Welcome! That downsizing thing is/was a big deal for most of us and we can sympathize! Stay close to the dream and you can make it happen. Questions are always welcome here and good info is available.

Thanks everyone.

Dan, It would be just me and my dog on the road. I did take a look at the Roadtrek, several of them and I think I am happy with the size. All I need are a few books, some music, the open road and of course a good strong internet connection for my work and a VoIP phone. I am hoping to persuade my two - son and daughter into joining me occasionally. I plan to carry a tent with me for those occasions when they want their own space. Also the mpg is a huge consideration with the cost of gas rising.

Hopefully you have your own internet connection, ie. aircard or cell phone you can tether. RV park wifi is not reliable and sometimes not free. There should be lots of posts about internet here on the forum so you can see what we all put up with out there.

We use the MagicJack for our phone. Downside is it requires a decent internet connection. Saves us those $50+ month cell phone charges. Our back up cell phones are Tracfones, add minutes as needed. They are cheap, got ours for less than $35 at Walmart. Only downside is you have to maintain the service. When you add minutes it also extends your service, ie. 120 minutes and 90 days. At the end of the 90 days you must add more minutes to lengthen your service date. As long as you keep it active you never lose the minutes.
