Screen rooms for awnings

We have friends that use one and really like it. I've never seen them put it up, looks like it would take some time to setup and probably a good idea to have ladder to use.

We have one and I love it. My husband gripes when we put it up, says he got out of a tent to avoid zippers! We are cautious and take it down if storms are predicted, but we also take the awning down if storms are predicted. If there is a mosquito, fly, or gnat within five miles, it finds me so the screen room makes my camping experience much more enjoyable. It also has roll up solid panels which makes it a room, not just a screen room. We use a two-step ladder and it takes both of us to put it up and take it down.

I don't have one but I have helped put one of them up, just to get the feel of how they work and also because my neighbor needed help. They had snaps that they had to install (with a small screw in the middle) down the face of their trailer, the front had hangers that slid into the awning roll slot, a few spots had velcro. They strapped their awning down on each end and then went over the top parallel to the trailer with another strap. They would set for months like that and never have to take it down, they loved it. They also had the clear panels they could un-roll if necessary,It nearly doubled their living space.

We made the mistake of purchasing one through CW many years ago. For $500.00 it was made of some-type of lightweight gray material. Pure junk! It practically disintegrated during our 3rd summer season.
We've since switched, and love our upscale free standing screen room for 1/4 the price.

Robert,

Any idea of the brand name/model that your free-standing is? (I say that because my memory is lousy enough to not remember such things.)

But, a free-standing would interest me in that I wouldn't have to attach fasteners to the outside of our coach.

Purchased it a a local K-Mart believe it or not. It's a Northwest Terrotory 10X10 for $149.00 which I refused to pay. It went on sale in the Sunday paper when we purchased it for $79.00.

We purchased the room from Carefree. It was nice, took time to set up, and we tried to stay away from buggy areas anyhow. We will purchase the free standing unit in the future as it is less hassle.

I think its a great idea if you staying in one place for more than 3 days otherwise they are a bit of a hassle to put up.
