Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

My wife (Catherine) and I are seriously looking at getting a Class A with a cargo trailer to haul our motorcycles so can go to an area and explore it. We've ridden most of the area West of the Rockies on ride out and back for trips.  Getting tired of motels and restaurant food.  Plus with in the next 16 months, we'll be doing some form of "retirement"

We're thinking of keeping the length of the coach under 36' so we can get into State and Federal parks.  Looking at the Newmar and Tiffin lines in particular but still need to check out other floor plans.

Look forward to reading all the good stuff other have written and learn from them.

Welcome Roy,

Sounds like you already have a plan. There's lots of RVs out there in the 35' size, so take your time and look at many different ones before you buy. There's also a ton of information on this forum about the pros and cons of different RVs.

If you can't find answers to your questions, be sure to ask. There's lots of friendly folks here that are willing to try to help.

Roy,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  As Jim stated, you can get a lot of help here from a lot of knowledgeable and friendly folks.  Feel free to ask your questions, but don't be surprised if you get tips or ideas other than what you are planning.

For instance, if you are going to be pulling a cargo trailer with your motorcycles, you'll also need a place in campgrounds where you can park that trailer.  So, if you are limiting yourself to a 35' (give or take a bit) motorhome in order to get into the state and federal parks, your trailer will add to your total length.

But, enjoy your researching and planning.

Welcome! Great group of folks here, don't be afraid to ask what's on your mind.

We travel with a bike although it's not the Goldwing in our photo anymore. We haul it sideways behind the cab of the semi loading it with a Rampage loader: http://www.rampagelift.com/

We bought a new Harley Ultra Classic last year because it was a few inches shorter then the Wing and a little easier to load.

We went with the semi because being fulltimers we wanted the living space of a full size 5th wheel vs a toy hauler with the garage in the back. This was just our preference.

There are lots of options out there for you to "take it with you" smile

Not sure what type of rig you are looking for but they make lifts for the rear of motorhomes to carry a bike as well as tow dollies that you put the bike on side ways and then haul a car behind.

Toy hauler 5th wheels have come a long way since we purchased. Seems like most of the ones we looked at the interiors were cheap looking leather with gawdy color schemes. They are a lot more "livable" now days.

 

They also make swivel wheel trailers that you tow behind the 5th wheel that allows you the combination vehicle to back up. http://www.cruiserlift.com/swivelwheel.html
