Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are going to the RV-Dreams rally - our 1st and so excited. After the rally we are going to Shipshewana & Elkhart Indiana to tour a couple of fifth wheel factories to choose our future home.
We will be taking I-76W to Ohio getting on I-80 to Indiana. My questions are:
1. Is there a better route? I heard I-80 if terrible.
2. Any recommendations for campgrounds or state parks traveling to Indiana?
3. Any recommendations for campgrounds or state parks in the area of Shipshewana and/or Elkhart area?
We'll be interested in answers to your post as we are going to do the factory tours and to also Hershey , but in reverse order from you :) Been on I 80, but not pulling. It was before it ever occured to us to haul a house down the road just for fun :) PK

US30 worked well for us to Fort Wayne and then US33 to the Elkhart area. We camp at Elkhart Campground in Elkhart or the fairgrounds in Goshen (where Howard and Linda stayed for a month recently.)

agree with Bill, 30 to 33 is a good route, plus in Indiana the interstate is a toll road so by following his route you will save a few $'s on toll fees.
We have stayed at both the parks he listed, prefer Elkhart Campground over the fairgrounds simply due to the very active railroad tracks right next door to the fairgrounds ..... toot toot!
We have also stayed at Shipshewana Campground. They have 2 locations (North and South) and we prefer the North park as it has more shade but if you want to be closer to town the South park is just past the flea market.
We will be in the area the week prior and will probably go to either Elkhart Campground or Shipshewana Campground.
