Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We're not really sure as yet as to exactly where we will go in FL - it really depends upon where our dog would be able to have a chance to roam free on occasion, and, of course, the campground charges.  We think we'd probably prefer the West Coast or the upper Gulf Coast, relatively near a beach - some place where it's apt to be warm in Feb/March!  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  (We tow a small trailer - 16' and we need to watch our wallets - fixed income now!)  Thanks.

 We've found that most RV parks don't allow much off-leash activity or only have a small fenced in area.  Our favorite off-leash beach is south of Sarasota at The Brohard Paw Park just south of Venice, FL.  There are several RV Parks in the area.  We're more state park types so we stay at Oscar Scherer State Park when we go down that way.

Carrabelle Beach, an RVC Outdoor Destination has a bark-park off-leash area. It's a super nice & clean park near the beach, too! Highly recommended.

Amy,

Considering the FT life, this is a question that nags at me about all states.  Will my little fur-man be restricted to life either in the rig or on a leash?  I hope not--he's a Basenji/Terrier mix and he needs to run!

As a Florida resident, I am ashamed to admit that we are not a very pet-friendly state.  However, Franklin County--in the bend of the Pandhandle--has BEAUTIFUL pet-friendly beaches and they are proud of it.  I suggest visitng their county web site for more information regarding camping.  They also have some of the best oysters in the country!  Love that place.  In addition, many towns such as Pensacola have off-leash dog parks that are open to the public.

I'm going to check out the site that Luvglas suggested as well and it's always worth checking petswelcome.com for other ideas.

Nikki, that's great news about Franklin County and dogs on the beaches.  I just checked FloridaPets.com and they say that dogs are allowed off leash as long as they're under voice control.  That whole area from St. George Island to Alligator point has absolutely beautiful beaches - we've spent a lot of time at SGI.  Looks like we need to make it a destination once again! Thanks for the head's up!

Orlando SE, Whipoorwill Lake is a super nice KOA on a spring fed lake and has a huge dog park with a watering station. It is not on the busy, theme park side of Orlando.
