Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hi All,

My husband and I are thinking about a simpler life and to get out of so many responsibilities and get down to traveling. Our major problem is we have 2 Great Danes, and 3 Golden Retrievers and I show dogs. So having an RV has been an idea we have thought about for awhile. However we have had a life change, David is on the road as a truck driver and I am at home in a 1300 sq ft house by myself 5 days out of the week. All of our children are grown and out on their own. We spend way to much for the up keep of the house and 1 1/2 acre yard. I am looking for a job and hope to get back into teaching this coming year. We are thinking about a fifth wheel to live in full-time and take our home with us when we want to go somewhere.

Having 5 dogs is hard to get away with finding someone to care for them and wondering if they are fine. So taking them with us is very important for us. We have looked at some toy haulers which would work very nicely. Giving up a home sounds great and all the expenses that go with it. We are just having cold feet on making a commitment and how to fit in our dogs into the RV life style that we want.

We are looking for ideas so please share them with us.

Margina and David

First of all welcome to the best RV forum on the net.Although not impossible the size and number of Dogs you have is going to limit where you stay.At least none of them are on the banned list many parks have .Good luck.

welcome. We sold our house in 2009 and have been living in our 5th wheel about 20 miles from our old house ever since. We have been paying off our bills and looking forward to retirement. DW just got laid off from her job so she "retired" a little earlier than planned. We were waiting on her to fully vest for health insurance but no reason to wait around now so looks like we will head out in early 2012 and do some work camping while we travel.

A toy hauler sounds like it would be a nice alternative for you guys.

We have really enjoyed living in our 5th wheel, looking even more forward to being able to move the wheels a little more often as well. We probably cut our expenses by over $2k per month after selling the house, of course this will vary depending on house payments, taxes etc.
