Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are, after 5 years of planning, taking the plunge! I gave notice at work and leaving for Colorado (from Michigan) on June 4, 2011!
It was a difficult decision. I work with legally blind adults and LOVE MY JOB! We have, however, dreamed of the full time rv lifestyle for years, and are now able to take the leap! We are leaving our five children and seven grandchildren behind and, naturally, have a great deal of emotion regarding our decision.
We are excited to begin this new phase of our lives and are prayerful that our lives continue to be blesses as they have been over the past 31 years!
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. If you've spent any time reading prior to actually registering for the forums, you will already know that there are a lot of knowledgeable folks here to answer questions and make comments.
Feel free to ask any questions, even if you think it might be a dumb one. There are really no "dumb" questions, but there are occasional "smart aleck" answers. We all tend to learn from each other, and each person's questions may be just the one to put a new perspective on the subject.
Have fun and good luck with all the research and planning.
Terry

Let me also welcome you to the forum, Frank & Cindy! With change comes opportunity so I'm sure you'll find your new life full of adventure and satisfaction. Keep us posted on how you're doing and maybe give some history on how you got to the departure gate. We all learn from each other!

Like has been said, feel free to ask questions. The folks here are very friendly and will help in any way they can.
Yes, it's a big leap to quit your job and hit the road, but I think you'll find it worth while. As far at the kids and grandkids, you can alway go back to visit them at any time.
Good luck,
Jim

Welcome Frank and Cindy. We too are newbies and are currently in transition phase. Our fiver is parked on a pad in the front of our house so we see it every time we step out the front door. Good luck in your transition. Keep the focus on the new life ahead. Letting go will be tough. I look at the transition as if I were able to move only what I need into the fiver. What's left behind will be sold in an estate sale. Family can follow you by blog, Facebook or Skype. The years of working can be used as you travel the land and share with others. Looking forward to meeting you some day on the road.

Welcome Frank and Cindy to the RV-Dreams forum and Congratulations on 'taking the plunge'. Donna and I took the plunge on May 2nd but we can't seem to get out of the area due to family committments or other 'need-to-do' obligations. Since our RV is now our home (and no place else to go), we know that we will eventually get "moving" somewhere, soon. Glad to have you with us---let us know your progress. Welcome again.
Congratulations on going full-time. Evin and I went to Michigan last May to spend four days with some RV-Dreams friends and stayed for over 3 months. What a great state for RV-ing. Had no idea what a wonderful and beautiful place Michigan is.
Guess what I am saying is that you can go back there from time to time and see your familes and do some great RV-ing as well. I am sure there are a lot of great places I have missed in my home state. Hope you have seen what there is to see in Michigan. We got a Michigan State Parks Passport book and ended up staying in close to half of the state parks. Met a wonderful campground host and she took a state map and used a green pen to mark all the place we should not miss. What a wonderful gift. We would have left after four days and missed a "true wonderland."
We have spent a lot of time in Colorado and it is great there also. Enjoy your adventure!!!
So excited for you! We are in a process of a 3 year plan. I wish you the very best of luck and adventure! Congrats for plunging into full time'ing! Can't wait to take the plunge our ownselves! As for missing the grandkids that is fully understandable. I went out west last year and my nefew didn't want me to go. So to make things easier for him. I gave him a map to mark down where I was. I sent him postcards with riddles or clues as to where Aunt Guppy had been. And a few items too, little stuff. He loved it! He ran each day to look in the mailbox to see if anything came. When we got home and went to visit him. He was excited about where I had been. He learned about indians, outlaws, railroads out west. And some geography. Maybe this will be a helpful way for the grandkids not to be so upset about missing ya. Again, BEST OF LUCK!
house just sold, most of the furniture is being taken by my husband's emplolyees. Will take a trip up to Elkhart to order Big Horn and then off we go. Thia has been two years in the making. If I hadn't gotten sick last year I don't think this would have happened. Now we live each day as day one.
