Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Osama bin laden

Some say that they are embarrassed or unhappy about the way that the Osama bin laden raid went down.  Here is my opinion about what happened.  All are free to disagree but it will not change my mind.

Let's say one of our troops just happened to see Osama bin laden walking down the street.  He then asked him for some identification and he produced a drivers license (yeah, right) that said that he was indeed Osama bin laden.  What would you do?  If it were me I would give him two slugs, one to the head and one to the chest and I would sleep like a baby that night.  I hope the heros that executed this mission feel the same way.

Perhaps it is just me, but a number of topics brought up under "Community Chat" and other categories might not necessarily be RV related.  Thus, I don't have an issue of calling an evil man evil.

From one who had his first experience with Islam back in the '60's, I've not ever been surprised to see what gets carried out in the name of that religion.  By the same token, a lot of wars and civil wars have been caused by people of other religions.  Just look at the past conflicts in Ireland between the Catholics and Protestants.

I'm religious, perhaps more so than a lot of others, but I have no qualms with doing away with an evil man.  We even had a preacher that taught from the pulpit that every man should have at least a shotgun with which to protect his family.

Killing for the sake of protection one's family is no where close to the issue of killing others just because they are different.

Armed or not armed, bin Laden deserved what happened to him, and I think he knew it would come, but no doubt he was still somewhat surprised.  You see, when I was first "introduced" to Islam, it was when I was stationed in Pakistan with the U.S. Army.  In fact, it was roughly 200 miles from where bin Laden was living.  Walled compounds in that part of the world are normal and I'd almost bet he felt that after nearly 10 years, that it would take an accidental incident for him to be discovered.

Good-bye, evil man.  Muslims here in Oklahoma are jubilant that you are gone and many of them have said that you will not be considered a martyr by the majority of Muslims.  No 72 virgins for you, just bottom feeders getting acquainted with you.

Terry

I won't loose any sleep over it either.

Although I can't figure out the press' position. Are they demonizing the Presidents decision, America and the Navy SEALS?

I can answer "what does this have to do with RVing"? Getting rid of that kind of evil (and continuing to get rid of them) will keep us FREE to enjoy the lifestyle we've been living or would like to live one day!

Amen, I don't post a lot on the forum but I lurk a lot and read. Killing evel and that man was pure evel is not wrong if it saves lives, with him gone it will save lives. The act did not make terror go away but cutting the head off the snake slows it down a lot.

I agree with the majority on this topic. When one cannot post their feelings of how our military performed in getting rid of an "evil" person then this forum becomes stale. This is neither a political or religious argument, question or statement, but rather our belief as Amercians that an evil person who killed thousands of men, women, and children from around the world, and certainly targeted Americans throughout the world, is now gone at the hands of our outstanding U.S. Military. It is a stand for justice. This is a story that falls into the same category as those awful tornados that killed hundreds in the South which had viritually nothing to do with RVing, but was certainly on many minds and in numerous prayers ... which by the way, Howard devoted time in his journal about.

Melstar,

With comments like that you will soon become a "Rock-star" in my book.

Let freedom ring!!!

My son just got back from Spain, where he commanded more than twenty sorties a day into Libya. Our military deserves our support. I agree our military insures our freedom to go RVing in this country with some degree of peace and a feeling of security. I hope that in my lifetime, just maybe, there will be a greater degree of peace and security for the everyday person in the Middle East.

Steve
