Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Surely there are some birders on the forum. I know H&L are.

Any suggestions/recommendations for new birders like us? Interest is in photographing birds then identifying them.

Consider something like the Bushnell 10X42 H2O Porro from B&H for binoculars.

Considering adding a Nikkor 70-300mm zoom to my Nikon D3000. Would love to get larger lens but need to hold back on expense.

Thanks for suggestions.

Most birders I know use 7 or 8 power bins for general birding, but if you're more comfortable with 10 I'm sure they will work.

You are right in getting a larger zoom for birding. I couldn't afford the Canon version, so bought a Tamron 200-500mm and have been very happy with it. Here is a link to a Picasa album with some of my pictures.

BTW, birding is a fantastic hobby for fulltime RV'ers. You can see so much as you travel around.

If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me.

as a birder I have a pair of Nikon 7x35 binoculars I use for everyday birding - a good birder also needs a more powerful fixed spotting scope to see the birds far away and sandpipers on mud flats... enoy this new pursuit.

(New poster in an old conversation.)

Birders here! Our licence plate says 2Birders and hopefully our new Navion's plate will say Nest.

Birding is a fabulous hobby/passion for RVing and travelling in general! There are birds wherever you go, you get out in nature, you get exercise, you travel to awesome places to find them, and you meet interesting fellow birders. Besides birding in Canada and the States, we've birded in the Bahamas, Mexico, Italy, and Nicaragua. Even birding out of the sticks and bricks kitchen window was fun.

Hope to find more fellow birders on this boards.

Hazel
