Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I know I shouldn't yell in the forum but I am just soooooooo excited
On Saturday night during the dinner/dance I missed a call from our real estate agent. When I finally reached her on Sunday morning she told us she had an offer on our house. It was a low ball so we countered and withing an hour on Sunday our house was SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!
Our wheels will roll on our anniversary on June 1. I just can't wait. Finally we will be able to meet somewhere down the road.
Did I mention that I am excited?????

We have had three showings in the past two weeks, hope that it is a sign of an improving market.

Don't you just feel like doing cartwheels . . . or the happy dance? Congratulations! Looking forward to all that you share with the forum as you begin this awesome lifestyle!
That is great news! It probably worked to your advantage by missing the call and not getting back to the low ball offer people until the next day.
They had time to think about the house and their offer and had time to realize that they really wanted the house and should be willing to pay more than they offered.
Thanks everyone. We are so excited. We still have to get through inspections but we don't anticipate any problems there. I am still pinching myself to make sure I am not dreaming.

Woohoo! Glad to hear that the phone call was what you hoped it would be! The market must be picking up for sure! Good luck with the rest of the process!!
We just sold our house as well today, and now we move one more step closer to traveling full time. I didn't think it would ever sell, told a nice loss on this house, but it sold.....who would have thought that owning a house would be worse then owning a car... My wife an I will never own another house..

Who would ever have thought that you could lose money on a house? It's like the American Dream is shattered. Small consolation, but can't you treat it as a loss on your tax return this year?

Yes we can write it off on our taxes, but it's hard to stomach what a waste of money owning a home turned out to be. If you look at how much money you put into it over the years, it really hard to take and it turns out that owning a home is a loss. We have a normal 4 bed 2 1/2 bath house. We had to update each bathroom twice since we owned it. Put all new appliances in it twice, carpet twice, etc, roof once, I forgot how many gallons of paint over the years. Lawn care, interest to the bank, etc, etc, etc. .. Renting a condo is the way to go for us until we it the road.. This way if something goes wrong all I have to do is pick up the phone and call the owner. A lot of my friends are so upside down on their house, that several are thinking to just throw the keys on the counter and walk away. it will be nice to be able to move down the road not having to worry about the mail and the lawn and the new papers laying outside...

Congratulations on the sale. We are lucky in that we didn't lose money but we sure didn't make what we could have a few years back. I hear you about never owning another house. I am feeling the same way. I am sure this will rebound but at our age who wants to wait.
See you on the road soon.

I am trying to look at it over the long term. I will take a significant loss on this one but did ok on my other three. If I calculate all my houses together, I spent less than $50/month for housing for 22 years. Overall, I came out much better than if I had rented. It is like any other investment some are winners, some are losers.
