Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Another Arizona camp ground question.

Has any one been to any Arizona camp grounds with pets? We are new to this full timers thing and very exited to begin our journy. biggrin We have a large fur baby (german sheppard) Maggie, and most all of the camp grounds are saying that they have a size restriction. We want to be in Arizona for the winter months this year. We are very upset at the idea that she will not be wellcomed. Any ideas on a camp ground that would wellcome us all? Thank you in advance.

The SKP park in Benson allows dogs and they have a dog run area (not very big). However, I don't know if they restrict specific breeds.

Some parks allow dogs but restrict breeds (it's an insurance thing) so I would call ahead to confirm...

I believe you'll find that most campgrounds will accept pets, although some might have restrictions on either breed or size. In our travels, we have been in 35 Arizona campgrounds and heave never had a problem with no pets. Size was never a problem either, but Boo Boo is only 9 pounds. :)

Good luck,

You might try this one in Buckeye.  It is  a typical large snowbird  park but should take your dog with no problem.  It is well keep with a dog run plus you have lots of desert around. Shopping is very close but not next door.   I would go for the SKP parks first but this one is not bad.  http://www.leafverde.com/   Bob

We were at Mesa Regal last winter.  No problems re our larger dog, dog parks in park are small but it is near "wash" where people walk their larger dogs.

Most of the parks we've been in ask if we have a dog and what breeds they are. I was recently told that one of the parks we are staying at in PA requires shot records of all animals in the park. Its a new one on me!

The insurance regulations are getting tougher so the parks are having to place more and more pet restrictions. My favorite is the rule that you have to carry or convey your dog to the potty area, thay can not be walked over to the Pet Stop. Second favorite is the park where you have to take your dog outside of the park to do it's duty. Again the dog must be conveyed outside of the park, not walked.

I've been told the breeds that the insurance companies are most concerned about are Rottweiler, Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinschers and unfortunately German Shepherds. I've seen rules in some RV parks specifically list these breeds as not allowed.

Other parks have weight or size restrictions or a combination of factors.

As others have suggested, I would contact the park and explain the nature of your dog and age to see if they might give some leeway.

FYI..... Here's a website that lists the top ten dangerous dog breeds: http://www.petsdo.com/blog/top-ten-10-most-dangerous-dog-breeds
