Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We're getting Close!

Although I do occassionaly post, I have not updated our status in quite a while.  For you who have been reading for sometime, you will recall that we made the decision on 11/14/09 to go full time and the house went on the market on 3/15/10.  We bought our truck and our rig and started selling everything.  Moved into our rig in June 2010 and kept waiting for the house to sale.

Well, it still hasn't sold even tho we have been willing to take $30,000 less that the originally listing price.  There are 5 houses in our neighborhood (of about 100 houses) for sale and nothing is moving.  There was a 6th that sold last fall after almost a year.
So, we found a property manager and turned it over to him to lease.  The good news is that it is now leased with a 3 year lease - no pets or children.  We can leave and not worry about it as the property management company will take care of everything for us.  (For a fee, of course.)   So, that is what we have decided to do - not getting any younger sitting here waiting.

March 21st  will be D-day!  So excited can't wait.  Of course had to rethink the budget since we won't have our equity out of the house but with a few workamping jobs along and living modestly we should be fine and be able to enjoy this beautiful country.  I will be retiring on March 10th and my DH will be quitting his little part time job on Feb. 20th.

Excitement, Excitement!

Judy (& Bob)

Congratulations! That's wonderful news! Keep us posted on your transition.  Every time I hear someone else take the plunge, it gives me hope that we can do it too!  All the best to you!

Sounds like a good plan. Congratulations on making it work so you could get going.

Yay!  What great news!  It's like Christmas, isn't it?  Even better than that - because now you will feel like you are opening a gift every morning - the gift of freedom, of exploring, traveling . . . learning, meeting people, trying new things  . . . on and on!

Keep us posted on your journey!  We all share in your excitement and happiness!

Wonderful!  Plan B sometimes works out even than Plan A would have.  Good for you for not giving up when it got tough!

Can't Wait! Thanks for all the replys. It three years will have 3 choices about the house. We can put it back on the sales market, release it or just move back in it. Hopefully, it won't be the later cause we don't think we'll be thru full-timing by then.

Good for you--as I get older I am a firm believer that it is always good to have options.  Sounds like you have several good options.  In a few years time I think the real estate market will be in a totally different place then it is now.  Congratulations

Congrats! That's great!

My parents turned their house in to a rental also when they moved here to be near us last Summer. It's worked out very well so far. They have great renters and the income source is a nice plus for them so they can do the things they want to here.
