Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi! Just wanted to drop a quick line to let all of you wonderful folks how we are doing.
So here we are, about 4 months into the fulltiming life. So far, so great! We have learned many (but certainly not all) of the little ideosynchrosies of our RV, which for me was the most challenging (and heart stopping!). I am now finally getting to the point where I realize that whatever we encounter with our coach, we can usually figure out how to deal with it. When we started, every problem that occurred- I was sure that we it was a game-ender and would cost us thousands of dollars and force us back into our sticks and bricks. Now we work together and figure out how to deal with stuff when it comes up, which has helped my blood pressure dramatically!
We are currently in southern Oregon out in the boonies, with deer and ducks and even bald eagles to watch every day. The "small" space really hasn't been very noticeable-it is only when we are both in the hallway that it feels tight.
We have fallen into our roles and duties to keep things running smoothly. One of the things I love about this life is that you simply MUST keep the place picked up or it feels cluttered and messy very quickly. This, in addition to not impulse buying without really thinking "Do we really need this, and if so, where will we put it?"-these are good habits that hopefully will stay with us no matter where we live years down the road.
I am working as a travel RN, and my husband is volunteering for free rent (including propane and electricity, which is a huge perk!). So far it is working well for us financially. If it happens that we have to pay for a space in the future, we can still swing it (but would be tighter than I would like).Free is better than not free, right?;)
Anyway, I so appreciate all of the answers to my questions when I first started entertaining making this huge jump into this lifestyle. You are a wealth of information (and seem like a pretty nice bunch of folks, too!).
So glad to hear you're loving full time. We started in March 2010 and like you was scared to death we'd run out of money "fixing" things that would be under warranty, but so far everything has been fixed and all is fine. We did have the wheels packed that was out of pocket, but that was planned
I hope we meet in a park real soon. Have fun, enjoy and welcome to fulltiming.

Glad to hear all is going well for you and your hubby Jamie! My travel nurse daughter and her husband (also a travel nurse) are now working in Tampa FL after a year in California. They are loving it and in fact now looking for a two bedroom 5th wheel to give the kids a little more of their own space. (They have been in a 40' motorhome) Good luck and blessings with all that you do!
Melanie
P.S. Free site is really good....now you can bank your travel living expense bonus!

We are new to full time since November and are slowly getting used to this new life. I have had all those worries you mention and probably more. Life in the s and b held some unexpected expenses so why wouldn't this life? And this IS such a great life. I wouldn't have it any other way. Good luck to you and thanks for the update.
