Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

vacuum

Not sure where to put this question but here it is.   It's a cleaning question.hmm

We have a small cannister vacuum that fits in the space where the washer dryer would be if we had one.  BUT this vacuum just doesn't cut it on the carpets.  Not enough suction power.  We don't have a broom/coat closet in which we could put a stick vacuum so it would have to go in the basement making it much less likely that it would get used on the spur of the moment when the sand gets to be too much.

So for those of you who aren't lucky enough to have the inhouse vacuum that I'd LOVE to have, what type of vacuum cleaner do you use and where do you keep it.  Assuming of course that you have one you actually like and would recommend.

Thanks AGAIN, you guys are THE best!

Sherry

Hey Sherry,

We have the Dirt Devil whole house the came with the coach, but it's a pain at times, so we bought a Hoover Nano Cyclone at WallyWorld. Works great!!! Easy to store and dump. $58.00....

Regards, Hamshog

Sherry,

Jo and I purchased a Dyson DC23 canister vacuum that fits into the bottom portion of the bathroom linen closet.  Now, this canister won't be as cheap as the one mentioned from WallyWorld, but it is a very strong contender for power.

I'll provide two links, the first being to a picture of ours in storage and the second to Dyson's website, where you can find a couple of different canister vacs and the handhelds.  Personally, I ain't bending over that much to vacuum, so the canister sounds like a deal to me.

As for the built in vacuums in RV's, Dirt Devil I think, when we were researching for our coach, others that had the central vacuum system didn't like them so much, so Jo and I decided that we would rather have something somewhat portable.  Who knows....I may vacuum out my truck one of these days.

Anyway, the photo:

By the way, Dyson has two or three different canister vacuums.  We found the DC23 to be the cheapest that would do all floor types.  They do have one model that is smaller than ours, but I don't know how small the vacuum head would be.

Hope this helps you.

Terry

We have the rechargeable  Electrolux Stick Vacuum and it has worked very well for us.  Takes up little space and works great on the carpeting we have.

We have a Shark rechargeable....

It works well and we mounted the hangar bracket that came with it inside the closet and ran an extension cord to the closet for charging it.

Another option would be a Roomba Vacuum.  Let it do the work for you.

We use one in our home and it does a great job as long as you use it a couple of times a week.

Has anyone tried the Swiffer Vac? I use a broom and Swiffer now on trips, but once we go full-time, that won't be enough, especially with a long-haired Border Collie on board.

We have a Corded Shark Navigator that works just fine on both carpet and wood and store it under our bed.

We recently put a Dirt Devil central vac in our motorhome. I LOVE IT! So far anyhow LOL. We picked it up at Camping world for $299. Hubby installed it under the bed, standing upright in the corner. The connection hardware was installed on the base of the bed facing the front of the MH and he added a small vent near it so it wouldn't overheat. It is just so convenient and doesn't take up precious closet space. I save every inch of space I can. :D The hose is 9 or 10' and expands to 30' and it came with attachments including a small power head. We have a small space on each side of the bed next to the slide wall/nightstand. Everything fits nicely in there. If the hose didn't fit I was going to staple velcro straps under the ledge of the bed to keep it out of the way.

JoAnn

PS  This holds a changable bag too.
