Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Pets and camp ground rules

smileI have a question about our dog Maggie. In our state (maine) some towns here do not require a dog to be registered or licensed. Are there camp grounds out there that require that? We are trying to get all our ducks in a row so we are all ready to go full time after our son graduates in june. Thanks.

Altho we are not FT as of yet we have travelled around extensively in our Motorhome with our dogs...and also stayed in your state..I have never encountered a campground that requires registration or licensing...just proof of health records shots etc....other members will probably comment for you..this is just been our experience...

safe travel and happy planning

We have been from one coast to the other and have yet to be asked for a license for Buddy. We did have 1 place in Oregon want to see his shot records but only because we were going to stay long term and it was more of a liability issue than anything. The only restrictions we have encountered are size and breed. Now some do have restrictions as to where they can walk and potty& rules about picking up after them and barking and such.

One campground, the SKP resort in Wauchula, FL, made a copy of our cat's rabies certificate, but they are the only ones who have cared about any documentation since we went on the road. Licensing is just a money maker for the local government, mostly to pay for animal control, so it is not universal.

In 300+ campgrounds in 48 states, we have never been asked about a license or shot certificates. It's not an issue to be concerned about.

Crossing the border into Canada or Mexico is another matter though.

We have our furr kid groomed and have been ask many times about shot records etc. Mostly they want to know about the Rabbies shot. I recomend you keep medical records the same as you would keep on your children etc. I try to keep my furr kid away from other pets. Because I don't know about the other pets (shots etc). Good Luck.
