Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi, My name is Lori and my husband's name is Tom. We have made the decision to go FT when my husband retires. He is nine years older than I an so it's early retirement for me!! That's the good news. The bad news is that it is several years away. I was very excited to find this website. It has given us a wealth of information. We have never even been in an RV before so we have a lot to learn before we actually hit the road. Both my husband and I are photographers in our spare time. Hopefully we can turn this into a possible income source once we are on the road by taking advantage of our beautiful country. We have decided that a 5th wheel is what we want and we have narrowed it down to Carriage and DRV, at least for now. Well enough for now. Thanks for reading!
Unfortunately, not for 7 years. Right now we need to keep working and save all our pennies. We will need to wait for S.S income and we will take the proceeds from our house and purchase the 5th wheel and truck. OR maybe we can play the lottery and hit it BIG! In the meantime we will go to as many shows as we can and perhaps rent and RV for short vacations to get the hang of it.
Welcome,I know 7 years sounds like a long time but it will go faster than you think.Plan, ask questions, make up your mind, change your mind, ask more questions etc.,etc. This will make the time go fast.

Welcome to this friendly forum. We've got a bit to go before we can live our dream, but the journey is just as exciting. Good luck in all your research!
As for your choices of fifth wheels, both Carriage and DRV have good units. Jo and I have a 2010 Mobile Suites 38TKSB3 and really like it. As soon as our house sells, we'll move into the Suites until we retire in about 3 to 6 years. Then, we'll hit the road and take pictures as well. Photography is one of my loves as well.
Nice looking photos on your website, by the way.
Now, if you want to drool over a Mobile Suites, use your browser to go to "Rolling Retreats" and check out the 2010 38TKSB4 that Alicia and Slade just listed today. They are a couple out of Elk City, Oklahoma that buy used DRV models at auction, usually repossessed ones. Their newest one is the newest that they have ever found.
Enjoy your planning, enjoy the looking, enjoy life, and the time will pass sooner than you may think.
Terry

There are several of us on this forum preparing for full timing. We have about a year to go and I'm glad we found this forum as well. Several years of bouncing questions and ideas off the folks in this forum will greatly help your process.
Lori and Tom, we also want say welcome to this forum. Since joining a couple of moths ago, we have had several of our concerns answered just by reading some of the posts and also just by reading Howard and Linda's postings on the RV Dreams web site. You will not only find this web site friendly and informative, but also very supportive of the life style we all want to pursue. We are hopefully only 2 - 2 1/2 years away from "hitting the road" full time but this will depend on selling the S&B which will depend on the economy in or area. Good luck in pursuing your dreams, you will find there are many ways to live this life style sooner than you may think.

Welcome Lori and Tom. Like you, Kev and I knew nothing about RVs when we decided to ft. We are hoping to start sometime in 2011, but it could be as much as 2 years out. This is a great and friendly place, and you'll enjoy it!
