My comments on the class c...

When you FT you tend to carry a lot of stuff. Cooking stuff, clothes, tools, etc. You didn't mention it but pulling a toad will also be a concern. In general they don't have the frame for pulling a toad. Storage space, both inside and out, is way to small. Living space can also be very cramped for 2 adults. Are you planning to take a pet along?

Don't get me wrong, we started with a class c and loved it, but when we decided to go FT it was obvious that our rig was not going to work.

Just some things to think about as you go shopping.

We don't have an RV yet but are looking. We started out thinking we would want a class c, but as we actually started spending time in them, thinking about what it would be like for that to be our home, where we would put things (and we really don't have a lot of stuff) we realized that it really wouldn't be enough. You may already be doing this, but take every opportunity to just hang around in different RVs until you are sure about what would be comfortable for you long term. And don't forget that it isn't a vacation. It's going to actually be your home.

Hello to everybody,

My name is Yumiko and this is going to be my first post. Since I'm originally from Japan, please excuse my occasional errors in my writing. My husband is also retired military and physically disabled after strokes. I'm much younger and currently working full-time (more than full-time with many longer hours due to my job field - finance and accounting). I love my company and its people but I feel there are more important things in this world.

I was so lucky to finally find RV-Dreams.com Website as this is the best and the most informative Website from many aspects. I especially love Howard and Linda's financial information, as I love numbers!! Hopefully, we will be FT RVers in a few years or so. I'm inclining to a smaller Class A as I am the one who will be driving (kind of scary) and doing all the stuff a male partner normally does but my husband, Dan, thinks Class C may be a good idea. I'm looking forward to any suggestions as both of us are very new to RVing. Howard and Linda, I love reading your journals whenever I can.

There are NO DUMB QUESTIONS. Now, you might get the occasional "smart-alecky" answer, but all questions will serve to allow the experienced (notice I didn't use the "old" word) Rv'ers to best help you. Each question, even if it has been asked before, still serves to sometimes just put a little different perspective with the answers.

Yumiko,

Don't be overwhelmed with the idea of driving a Class A. There are LOTS of ladies out there driving them, and doing quite well, I might add.

Both of you feel free to ask questions and make comments. That is the process of learning. Even some of us that have had campers in the past, still have a lot to learn, and sometimes we learn them by error or by someone else's comments.

Enjoy the ride, enjoy the life, enjoy God's wonder and beauty.

Welcome to the forum....you will find a lot of valuable information here and make wonderful new friends....we are in the process of transitioning to snowbird semi full time considering we live in Canada and have to return every now and then due to our medicare... We have a class A had a C also had two fivers...the C was great for short vacation travels..but I couldn't imagine living in it fulltime...storage would be quite an issue with me...and I love having a toad along...check them all out...spend some time them all...maybe rent one for a week and try it out???

welcome Yumiko, a class A is no harder to drive than a class C...I've driven both...I like the A for the storage and interior space....welcome to the RV family..you will find alot of wonderful information here...good luck with your planning!!

We rented a class C years ago and had a little Toyota Class C as our first RV. I never really enjoyed driving them because the cab over made me feel clostrophobic. We went from the Toy to a travel trailer to a Class A.

We find the class A to be easy to drive (Catherine does most of the driving) and it will be our full time rig. I am sure you will find one that suits you and Class C's have changed a bunch since we had one many do not have the cab over thing now. Look at them all with an open mind!

If you are nervous about driving, take a driving course - we did and we both learned some things that made us more comfortable.

Welcome Kurt and Yumiko. As everyone else have said, there are no dumb questions here. We all learn from each other on this forum. Some of the best discussions seem to arise from those who are not as experienced. We are all "newbies" in one way or the other, just depends on the topic.

Yea, they kinda give themselves away when their 1st post is in an old thread and includes a link somewhere to a site selling something.They usually join in the early a.m. and post shortly after.I sure wish there was a way to zap these people.This guy was a little slicker than most as he only put the link in his profile instead of the topic or his signature.
