Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

A loss of our RV family

Margie often posted in this blog under the name Tumwater.   Yesterday she and her husband Bruce were taking their usual morning walk while staying in Pismo Beach, Ca.  They were hit by a car and both killed.

Stephanie, their daughter, reports it is being considered a homicide as the young man who killed them was attempting suicide.

Margie was loved by many in the RV blogging community.  We are in shock.

How sad for a dream to end so tragically. Life is so strange at time like this. Our prayers are for their family and friends that are deeply saddened by this event.
Thanks for keeping the extended RV family informed.

We were made aware of this tragedy last evening.  I know several RV-Dreamers were followers of Margie's blog and she in return followed theirs.

She had made over 70 posts to this Forum and though we didn't know them personally, they certainly were highly thought of.

Our hearts go out to the family and all those that have gotten to know them on the road and through their blog and this Forum.

RE: A loss of our RV family

I am so shocked and sad this morning after reading several blogs.
Lets stay in pray for the RV family.

Howard, I have been introduced to so many wonderful familes thru RV Dreams.com.
This is a wonderful site that is very valuable to a lot of members. I very seldom post but I sign on daily and read the journal and forum. I will be chiping in.

I just went to Margie's blog this morning with my cup of coffee in hand as I do every morning...what a shock. I had the pleasure of meeting both Margie and Bruce as I live in Olympia. We had met several times at the Tumwater McDonalds to talk about the fulltime life style and she and Bruce encouraged me to work toward my dream.

This is such a horrible loss for their family but for all of us who new them in person or as blog buddies.

I know Margie would want each of us to remember it can happen to any one at any time and to follow your dreams. I know I will keep on working toward that dream.

I, too, learned of this late last night.  Like many others in the blogging world, my entry for today is regarding this.

I invite you to read it here

This is my own heart speaking here, so bear with me, please.

There has been controversy here lately with varieties of opinions expressed.  If we find no other reason for the taking of Margie and Bruce from us, perhaps it is a not-so-gentle reminder that RV folks (at least from my 50+ years exposure) and especially full-timers are indeed much like family.

Perhaps even closer than family, as we share a unique vision of how we want to live our lives.

We have our own opinions, financial situations, physical limitations and reasons for living the full-time life.

We do share one thing - something has called us to the road, to leave behind blood family, friends, possessions and "stability" to explore "what's out there."

I can tell you with no uncertainty that if the RV-Dreams community were staying in the same park as Margie and Bruce, we would all be gathering together for each other and supporting their family when they arrive in California.

That's what families do.

Peace all,
Betty

We are in the Olympia area a couple times a year since it is my home town and my mother lives in Tumwater. We had tried to match up with Margie and Bruce but somehow we were not in town at the same time. Now that meeting won't happen which is very sad.

Another reminder that our time on Earth is limited. Don't waste it and from what I could tell Margie and Bruce didn't.

So very sad indeed.  I think TxYellowRose is right on in her comment that this is why many of us made the leap into fulltiming.  The realization that life is indeed fleeting and unpredictable.  The really important thing in life is time spent with our loved ones doing what makes us happy.  Nothing else really matters.  My  heart goes out to their family.

I had just posted yesterday on my blog about the tragedies, sadness, and problems  that the RVing world has encountered recently.   Today I find out about this horrible event, so I added an update to extend my sympathies to Margie and Bruce's family and friends.

The families affected by these tragedies are all in my prayers.......

So sad, so senseless. All I can say to the family is that there
is nothing any of us here can say that will ease your pain, so I pray that God will comfort you in this time.

It's really hard to understand why things like this are allowed to happen, but I don't think that we will ever understand, at least not in this world.
 Our lives here are all we have, all we know, but just a blip in the spectrum of all eternity.

None of us know when or how we will be called when our time comes. But from the blog, and the other posts I've read, it seems that they treasured their 'walk' time together, and so maybe in a way it's a blessing that they were taken together so that neither had to suffer the loss of the other.

That doesn't make it any easier for those of us left behind, especially the family. My prayers are with you. I wish there was something else I could say to help.

What a shocking tragedy, so horrible & senseless.  It is a grim reminder to all of us to live our lives fully each day & to be grateful for it, no matter where we are or what we are doing.  Circumstances can change so quickly.
My heart goes out to the family.

I too had just started reading Margie's blog a few days ago.  They seemed to have such a zest for life and were enjoying their time on the road.

My heart goes out to the family, friends and extended rv family.

To the family:

Life is but a stopping place
a pause, in what's to be;
A resting place along the road
to sweet eternity.

We all have different journeys,
different paths along the way;
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay.

Our destination is a place
far greater than we know;
For some, the journey's quickers
For some, the journey's slow...

And when the journey finally ends,
we'll claim a great reward;
And find an everlasting peace,
together with the Lord.

Wow...such a sad and tragic thing to happen. I read Margie's blog from just the day before this happened and it was life as usual. Then her daughter wrote about what happened.

This is a SERIOUS reminder that life here on earth is very short and we can never know when it will end, or how. This couple was living their dream and I hope that their loved ones remember that and can find peace in the fact that they were having fun and enjoying life to the very end of their personal existances here. So many people fail to live life fully, and put their dreams on hold. This couple apparently were not that way.

Prayers and loving thoughts go out to their family members and friends!

Not being one to "follow" blogs very much, we never got the chance to meet Margie and Bruce, even online.  Unless we had commented together on one of Howard and Linda's forum threads, then we hadn't even come close.

That said, the loss of any in the RV'ing family is a loss to all of us, because that means there is no chance to meet them while traveling.  While our feeling of loss cannot equal their family's feelings, Jo and I would like to offer our condolences to both Margie and Bruce's bloodline family and their "family of the heart."

A talk show host that I listen to has a "special needs" daughter, and he told the story once where his daughter spoke of the "family of the heart."  When he asked her about it, she explained that the "heart family" were those whom we come to love in our lives, even if they aren't literally related to us.

So, to all of our "family of the heart", Jo and I offer our thoughts and prayers, whether you are RV'ers, RV dreamers, or just dreamers.  May God comfort all in their losses.

Terry

I just got off the phone with my mother, who lives in Tumwater. Her best friend is all upset since she just learned Margie and Bruce died and they were her next door neighbors for 8 years. My mother's friend was worried about the dog, and did not know the daughter's name to find out. I told my mother what I knew and she was going to call her friend to let her know the dog, Annie, was OK and the family was in California. It remains a small world.
