Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello. I am in the beginning stages of preparation to go full-time. I am planning to purchase a used Class C motorhome, as small as I can feel comfortable in with my two dogs. Today I looked at a 24' Winebago View. I would be very comfortable and happy in this vehicle as far as size, look and layout. I am looking for suggestions or reviews on small Class C/B motorhomes. I will not be towing anything. I want something very reliable and high quality. I will plan to purchase at least a couple of years old, to forego the major depreciation of a new motorhome. Thanks in advance for any advice or tips (reviews, tips, good websites, dealers, what to watch out for, etc.!).
Great, thanks! I will definitely check into those. Any thoughts on the Winebago one way or the other? Does it have a reputation for quality (or not)? And it may go without saying, but I am also looking for value, not just expensive quality! i.e., something may be known for quality, but may also known to be expensive. That would not be my first choice. Thanks again.
I've got an '08 View H and just returned from a rally of 80 fellow View-Navion owners who met up at the Winnebago factory for a few days. Unsure if this group is representative of all, but everyone seems exceptionally pleased with their coaches (I love mine!).
We were given a day-long tour of the factory, and the quality and expertise of the workforce was very evident. They also really seem to love their jobs and the company. While many mfrs bit the dust during the past 2 years, Winnebago is debt-free and strong. The CEO, Bob Olsen, even took a few hours to meet with us one day-- very down to earth and customer-focused.
While others produce coaches on the Sprinter chassis, It's 30% of Winnebago's fleet, so they're committed to it and have a strong relationship with Mercedes. Winnebago also manufacturers nearly all of the own coach components- so if you need a part 10 or 15 years from now, they'll have it or they'll make it for you!
There's a very active Owner's Forum on Yahoo Groups called the Skinnie Winnies that can provide lots of ideas and help ( and also do some really fun rallies!)
Just letting go of our 2002 Trail Lite B+ this week--15,000 miles of pleasure. 8 cylinder Chevy engine had plenty of power to pull trailer(man garage+motorcycle), got into any parking place, and 16 mpg didn't hurt any. If I were alone would not have traded.
We have had a 21 ft Pleasure-way class B for 10 years and love it. We have travelled as much as three months at a time without issues, but and I say but -With there being two of us it's really tight for full-timing. I think for singles with pets it would be fine.
When we go full-timing, we will be going larger, but not the 40ft plus size as we plan on doing a lot of state and national parks. I will tell you we researched all the class B's before we bought the Pleasure-way and our decision was based on quality. We have never regretted it and I would highly recommend Pleasure-way to anyone looking for a small unit.
Although you are considering a Class B/B+ or C you may want to consider the new Tiffin Breeze which is a DP and is only 28' long, listed as a Class A. You get all the benefits of a DP, air-ride, air-brakes, diesel engine, etc. and the MSRP is in the mid 140K. If you get a new coach house, it most likely will exceed that price and you will end up with less value. Just a consideration.
Thank you everybody for your replies. I have done a little research on them all. Does anybody have recommendations for good contacts of dealers/individuals (or websites) that sell or assist in locating used Class C/B motorhomes? I'm hoping for known good reputations for selection, service and fair pricing.
