Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

In Beautiful Bay St. Louis, heading to Bradenton, FL

We are on the beginning stretch of a journey that we hope will be filled with only good things and fun. We hope for the best and are prepared for "issues" that may come up.

We had a fantastic idea after one of our younger grandsons could not grasp that Papa and Grandma did not live in their old house anymore. They think everyone should live in a "house". Since Parker and Miles are 9 and 6, I decided that sending them postcards from every place we stop, sending photos via email to them and sending scrapbooks to put them  in (they can print up the photos and paste them in the scrapbooks) will help with capturing the essense of what we are doing.

I am going to have someone take a good photo of Rick and myself in front of our travel trailer and  that will be the beginning of our story. Then the boys can fill the scrapbooks with the postcards,  and the printed photos and keep track of us. Also, am going to do a journal for family and friends, filled with our adventures.

We have enjoyed our little stop in BSL, MS. It is a beautiful little town that was severely damaged by hurricane Katrina and is still recovering. Went down to the beach yesterday and also saw the oil damage from the incident out in the gulf. What a terrible shame. They have brought in sand and redone the beaches, but still it comes in and the water plants along the fringes are filled with the oily residue too. This place needs a reprieve from Nature's and Man's wrath. Hope they get it. We will be back to see more of this darling town.

Well, gotta go and pack up to pull out. Wish us good luck if you will.

Our Grandkids were sad when we moved into our camper full time.  They thought we were homeless people.

Ours are upset too.  Little guy says "Gramma I am afraid I will never see you again"  I have had a blog since we started snowbirding two years ago.  I always remind them to read it and also try to mention each of them in it ocassionally too.

Congradulations!
Genecop is right, starting a blog will help friends and family keep up with you while you are out on the road. You can post pictures and let them know whats going on where you are.

Stay Safe

Congrats GiniaJ.......the first big step is the first of many.  Hope you enjoy your fulltime lifestyle as much as we do.  Our grandkids are about the same ages as yours and they look forward to their postcards, and little gifts we send along the way.  Another idea we use.....get a map of the United States and put it up in one of their's bedroom.  Then take a picture of your rig and turn it into a magnet.  Then whenever they get a postcard from you, they move the magnet.  It's funny when we call, and one of the grandkids will tell us all about the state we are in.  It's a leaning experience for them and just plain fun for us.
Congrats again.....and safe travels.

I LOVE the map/magnet idea!  Johnny has 3 grandsons, ages 2, 8, and 10 with another one on the way.  When I used to work in corporate America I traveled internationally a great deal.  I used to send all my nieces and nephews postcards from around the world.  Traveled with address labels preprinted with their names and addresses.  Generally their Christmas gifts came from someplace in my travels.

While blogs are great and we hope to do that, I like the idea of something tangible for the little ones.  And I really like the idea of them learning about other states through our travels.

Maybe part of their Christmas present will be the map this year!

We went to an office supply store and got a map that was laminated.  The magnet sticks better.  We also made sure that the states were big enough for the little ones to easily find the different states.  Our son in law made a game out of it.  Our grandkids are 4,5,6,and 7.  The little ones get to find the outline of the state and the older ones tell them if they are right or not.  Then they look up the capital, crops, etc.  They love it.  And when we see them in the winter, they tell us all about our adventures.

Ever since I got a new laptop last year, I've been enjoying Skype video chats with my favorite little ones (age 9 & 4). They are eager to play me their latest piano music, proudly hold up their latest artwork in front of the web cam, and even read me a bedtime story!

So, whether I'm 30 miles away or 3,000, it's a really fun way to stay connected!
