Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Listed the House Today!

Hello my name is Carol and my husband is Peter. We finally finished cleaning out the attic, garage and closet, did some long over due yard work and called the realtor. We are really excited to have gotten this far.. It will probably take awhile but we are hoping to be fulltiming by next spring. For right now we have a 2007 3124ksTrailmanor and a ford explorer so space is limited. My next step is to find a storage unit for the few thing I am not sure about or just can't part with. Hope to be joining you all soon!

Well, it looks like we need to offer welcomes to two different families.  Both have done their very first post.

Welcome to both Carol in one post and Jane in the second.

If you have been lurking a while, you probably already know a lot about the site.  If you haven't been lurking, I would like to say you have found a very friendly, helpful place.  There is a lot of knowledge within the group of people who frequent here.

Feel free to make comments or ask questions.  Never be afraid to ask a question.  Who knows, maybe it is one that we haven't heard yet.

I also suggest reading Howard and Linda's daily journal and if researching for an RV purchase, there is a lot of information under the website's "Site Map" button on the main page.

Terry

Hi Carol, Welcome, We are working on disposing of things and doing a little work on the house. We plan to list our house in the spring and head somewhere warmer before next winter. I have a question about you TM. Do you plan on living in it or do you plan to get a larger RV. We have an older TM-3326 but are looking to purchase a larger TV and FW in the spring. Hope you house sells quickly.

Hi Dave and Marge,

For the begining we are planning on using the Trailmanor. We have lived in it for the past three years April/ May thru September. I don't think it would be great in really cold weather but to start it should work.
When we feel financially comfortable we plan to move up to a fifth wheeler more so because we would like to stay in New England thru Christmas and the TM might be tough if that was not  important to us I probably would not replace the TM we really love it and have everything we need in it.
Good luck with getting everything in order. Hope to meet you on the road.

Welcome! I'm also envious of you and wish we were as close to starting out as you are. We, too, have our home on the market, so know what you are experiencing. Hope your house sells very quickly!

Welcome to the forum. This is such a great site to get that helping hand in all things RV. Getting ready is quite the task but it is amazing how fast the time will go. We started the whole process in 2008 and as of a couple weeks ago we are now out on the road. When you need encouragement along the way this is a good place to come.

Thanks Terry for the welcome. I am mostly lurking for now. My hubby and i are in our 40's and my idea of full timing is to start within 2 years when my daughter is finished with college. She is in New York and I think she'll probably stay there after graduation if she gets a job there. Then I am ready to go. My husband wants me to keep working at my job for a few more years to build up my pension more but I would like to give up teaching and just work camp. Our biggest obstacle is that we currently own 3 properties (including the one we live in) and I don't have to tell anyone that now is not the best time to try to sell real estate. I thought we'd have lots of equity for our future but that is not turning out to be the case. So we are hoping to come out with enough for a truck, 5th wheel and maybe a motorcycle. We currently have a trailblazer and a hybrid camper that we have on a seasonal site. Right now he is working on the road so we haven't been able to use it much. Can't live in the hybrid though, at least not for long. We want to go to Florida for a good chunk of the year since that is where my MIL lives but would love to travel and work camp. I'm hoping for 2012 but hubby thinks it will take longer. If we can get the financial house in order it can be soon. I can't wait! Love this forum.

Congradulations Carol and Peter, hope the house sell goes quickly.
We also have our house up for sale, it is a still slow market around here, that being said we have had some recent positive activity.
Best wishes, see ya on the road!

Congratulations to making that decision to put the house on the market. I think that is one of the hardest hurdles. And welcome to this site. They will even listen to you cry when things aren't going to plan. We, too, have our house on the market (over 7months). Have had some positive attention lately but no offers. We made our decision to FT last November 14th, 2009. We are Fulltiming in that we are living in the RV but the wheels just aren't turning yet.

Good luck on selling your house!

Judy

Well here it is January 21, 2011 and the house still has not sold.  We have lowered the price for the second time and will be having an open house next weekend so who knows.
On a brighter note we decided to post an awesome resume on Workampers and sent out a few last Thursday night.  I am happy to announce that we have just excepted a position at a campground about 2 hours from the house.  They have agreed to allow Peter to work less so he can also work his business (he plans to keep it going till it sells or the end of the year which ever comes first). So as of May 1 we will be at Pine Acres Family Camping Resort in Oakham MA until October 10th.   After that we will stay in the area till after Christmas and hopefully find another position for January till next April.
Sometimes you just have to jump in!!
So I guess our fulltiming date is quickly coming. Wish we could make the April event but maybe next time.
Hope to meet you down the road
Peter and Carol

Hi Pete and Carol,
Don't get too discouraged with the house.  It sounds you are doing the right things-adjusting the price trying to find the price where you will get an offer, and the Open House to get people through.  I have been selling Real Estate for 21 years and the properties that sell are the ones in which the Seller remains sensitive to the marketplace and makes the necessary changes to the list price until buyers have a reason to buy.  This market has been strictly price driven; which makes it challenging to find the price that is attractive and that the seller can live with.  I can tell you a lot of Sellers are not happy with the prices, but it allows one to move on to the next chapter.  Wishing you the best.

You are absolutely correct. We have basically decided that the buyers will let us know when the price is right.  We just hope it is soon.

And don't be too discouraged. We listed the beginning of August. In the first month we had ONE viewing. We didn't get another until near the end of November! But that one bought, and we closed on December 30th. And we never did lower our asking, and we got awfully close to it! It'll happen!

Carol,
Hang in there, It will happen. This is a slow time for home sales and the rules seem to change every other day.
We are putting two houses on the market this spring, hoping for a quick sell on at lease one.
When either one sells we'll be buy our RV for fulltiming.

 Good luck to you
 Wayne
