Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Weekend

This past holiday week end, G-Ma and I made our first RV trip by ourselves. We had a blast made 5 State Parks in 3 days. We did not stay in any of them, just a visited so we now know we prefer the State Parks, CCC, Or COE parks for camping and RVing.  We had a flat on the TT on our way home, we had such a good time it did not keep us from laughing until we hurt, I changed the tire in about 20 minutes and off we went. Now the real world is, I realized I have to by a set of tires for the TT, the ones on it are 7 yes 7 years old (OEM).
What a great weekend I hope everyone had a good one also.

Dan,

Glad the two of you had fun.  Sad that you will now have to buy new tires.

However, it would be of interest to me what parks you went to, and why did you like each of them.  While you didn't "stay" at any of the parks, were you in parks where you would have to boondock, or were there amenities available.

I have to confess that I haven't been to any of the Texas state parks, so I don't know what they have in the way of utilities.

However, IF you like boondocking, and IF you choose sometime to go to Colorado, I highly recommend Jo's and my favorite National Forest campground in that state.  You can check out my "campground review" at the following link:

http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?aBID=91511&p=3&topicID=37944707

If you can go to Purgatoire River campground when we normally do, I can almost guarantee a nice quiet time.  We normally go the last week of August, just before Labor Day.  People normally have their kids in school and aren't camping up there.  The last few times we were there, the only ones in the campgrounds were deer hunters, and it was only their vehicles in the campgrounds.  They themselves were up on the mountains.

The main thing though is that the two of you are enjoying the camping.  Keep it up, and go as often as you can.

Terry

Terry; We like the State Parks because some have water, elect. and sewer, all have water and elect, just as the RV resort, the only thing the State Parks do not have is cable, which we don't need anyway. Seventy five percent of the resort was permanent trailers with a lot of junk around them, we have not seen that in the State Parks. The people in the State Parks were very friendly as the resort they did not even speak to us. The parks were cleaner and much better atmosphere for relaxing. We just like the atmosphere and the people of the parks much better. If we had not paid in advance for our site, we would have moved. I have stayed in the Oklahoma and Texas State Parks and you can't beat them.

The tire was not a big thing, we needed new ones anyway. I will make another post about the tires. Get out the popcorn and cokes.
