Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Giday from a sunburnt country

One of the best days I had last year was finding this site. If I remember correctly it was cold and wet, so I did some Internet surfing instead of the real surfing. As today's weather is  pretty much the same I have decided to crack a tinny early and say Hi to my RV friends at RV Dreams. What a rippa site.

Mum and dad took me and by brothers, there a 5 of us, holidaying in a hired caravan when we were very young. I have done the same with my three sons and now find myself full-timing in my custom built  off road 20'(yeah yeah I know its not as big as your rigs) caravan (sorry trailer) with the lot (sorry no ice maker, dishwasher or hot tub). So the RV life has been in my blood for a long time.

I have no set agenda and don't classify myself as a tourist so I don't worry to much about how far I go and what I haven't seen yet. I prefer to see what happens and focus on the people I meet and experience their mate-ship. It's a great life isn't it.

Oh, and mum 77yrs and dad 80yrs are still caravaning or should that be trailering or RVing. This is getting a bit silly. They have just this week purchased a 24' trailer and last year bought a new 4WD to tow it with. Now they are ready to full time. Most of the time with me. Sort of gone full circle.

One of my goals is to attend an RV-Dreams Rally and meet all you lovely blokes and chicks in person particularly that lovely Linda. Tell me boys how did she get stuck with that Howard. No not really, Howard I am inspired by the incredible discipline you show keeping this website so up to date. No wonder you were so successful in your past life, but mate stone the crows give that golf away it will frustrate you till the day you turn your toes up.

Steve,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forum.  No doubt you already have an idea of the folks that frequent this place.  RV'ing may be different "down under" but the spirit stays the same.

Now, in all fairness, I must issue a challenge based on this statement from your post:

"If you take me on you take on the whole Trailer Park."

So, to uphold the honor of the "up yonder" crowd, I challenge you to a contest of sorts.  I'll bet that I can eat more snack crackers than you can.

Seriously, though, you are welcome to post comments and ask questions to your heart's content.  While camping in the U.S. may differ, we all have our share of joys and tribulations.  We'd like to hear of any you have, just as you are welcome to share in ours.

Have a good trip through the "forum forest".

Terry

Thanks Jim and Linda,
I have come to the opinion that RVing is pretty similar in Aus. It's just that you good old boys and gals do it on a much bigger scale.

Sorry heyduke for delay, Sydney's best quality is the harbour. Spend any time you have on the Ferries that run around the harbour and it will be time well spent. The walk from the Opera House to Mrs Macquaries Chair through the Botanical Gardens is also very pretty and is all flat. As for accommodation I cant help as the city Hotels have always been way out of my budget. Hope you have a really great time.

Hi Steve and welcome to this side of the pond. The difference in caravaning in Australia and here in the US is that we for sure have more RV parks with full hookups. I spend three years on the NW Cape and traveled extensively while there, but never found many parks with the amenities we have in most here. That being said, all the parks there were very adequate and had what we needed for overnight and short stays. We never were much on touristy things, give me water, sewer and electric hookups and I am a happy camper.

We always rented a BIG CARAVAN (15 footer) for our travels in Aussie land and actually were quite comfortable in it, what with three little ones. We traveled up and down the West coast of Australia several times and flew when we went East. We did drive across the Nullaba (sp) Plain one time and that was enough.

I thoroughly enjoyed my three years there and other than the US that is the only other country I would ever want to live in.

Have a blast with your travels and maybe we will meet up somewhere on the road. My e mail addee is junglejim0745@gmail.com

Happy RVing/Caravaning. biggrin
