Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We are currently in an area where all the world's bugs have decided to congregate and sneak into the rig. We recently bought some Black Flag Window Fly Traps and put them around the MH. Boy do they work well!!  I am most impressed that they even catch knats.  I can now trash the pack of hanging fly traps that made the rig look like the inside of an out house. 

Now if some genius could come up with this type product to catch ants....

I'm glad they worked for you.  We bought a box and put them up in our 5th wheel. 

After several weeks, there is only one fly in the traps.  We've had many, many flies inside and have been busy with the fly swatter.  Maybe our flies are too smart for the trap! biggrin

For ants, go with terro ant bait. Their liquid is the best I have ever found, from New Orleans to Florida to Oregon, nothing else has come close to being so effective.

We had infestations of ants twice..once in TX and once in FL. Hubby finally had a thought to buy inexpensive flea collars and put them around the jacks, axles, any place the ants could use to crawl up and into the RV. That was almost 2 years ago and we've never had another ant.

F-350/Ram 3500 type truck, possibly an Airstream or a smaller 5th Wheel.

For bugs in general I don't think there is anything better than Bug Stop. It outlasts anything out there. We used it at our sticks and bricks as it was the only thing that helped with the boxelder bugs and seems to work on most other bugs too including ants. Howard mentions it too on his blog.

Take a zip-lock sandwich baggie and fill it 1/4 to 1/2 full of water and place 5 pennies in baggie and hang it near doorway... no flies. don't laugh it works.

In The south if you want to get rid of Fire ants....Sprinkle instant grits over the mound...the ant will collect it and eat it ......it causes the ant to swell and die upon eating it!!!!!

A good, easy and organic solution to ants; they HATE lemon oil and cinnamon! You can smudge some lemon essential oil (or Lemon Pledge furniture polish works wonders also) across their tracks, and also put cinnamon sticks into the food cabinets where they like to go. They will avoid it!
