Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We're looking at a used 2000 - 37 foot Forrest River Fifth Wheel that has never been on the road. We're a little concerned because it has never been on the road. It has been used as a vacation unit and parked the whole time. However, it's in really good shape. But the fact that it has never been on the road has both pros and cons. Has anyone out there ever heard of the brand Forrest River or had any experience with them? We'd love to hear any input you might have. We will be full timing in it beginning in just over a year. 8 months of the year we will be in one location but the other 4 months we hope to be on the road where ever the winds takes us that is warm.
We had a 2002 Cedar creek. Only problem was the slides were not real airtight. In cold weather could feel the wind whipping in. But, got to remember - it was a 2002, we bought it used in 2007.
Our FR Cardinal has been great in all kinds of weather. We've had an axle issue that was covered by warranty, otherwise trouble free. Racerguy is absolutely correct. Forest River makes many different models and many would only work for moderate climates. For the specific model you're considering, you might check the Forest River blogs. We've browsed the blog for the Cardinal occasionally. Maybe you could inquire there of someone that has the same model?
We can't speak to issues of one being parked as we bought ours new in 2009.
As others have said Forrest River makes many different models. There is very little that would make me shy away jsut for the fact that it hasn't been on the road. Make sure the lights all work properly, re-pack the wheel bearings, put on some new tires, of course make sure the brakes work properly, and you should be ready to roll.

It is a Spinnaker. It has 3 slides. We've looked at many different fivers, and love the storage in this one and the lay out. Am really glad to see that our main concerns are being addressed. Brakes, lights etc. We're sure if they don't work, we can get them fixed and are sure the bearings will need to be re-packed and new tires are first on the list. But the price is really good. I'll have to see if I can find the blog you speak about. Thank you for your advice, we alway look here first for advice. Only one more year till we're full timers!!! We can't wait. We just never have spoke to any one who has this brand.
In the past, Jo and I have had two different Forest River products, although both were a lot smaller. One was a Salem travel trailer and the other was a Rockwood fifth wheel. Both were 26 footers and we had very little problems with them. However, we only had each for a couple of years before trading them (up to what we have now), and we only used them for about one or two weeks a year.

Edit: I guess you'll have to copy and paste the link into your browser "address" field. It didn't go active.
