Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Can anyone help? We are traveling in our 35 ft RV to Anapolis, MD then to Providence RI, to see family. We then hope to see Niagra Falls and then head south in the general direction of our home in Fl. We have 2 kids 13 and 16, our total trip time is 2 wks. The kids love the mountains. Do you have any favorite sites in Penn and or Virginia we can visit. We Have been to the Smokies many times and wish to see some new places, yet keep cool in the mountains. Any help would be great. Thanks, Lynn
Lynn, Our favorite place in VA. is Lexington. Beautifull area with alot of history. Home of VMI and Washington and Lee university. A must see is Lee's Chapel and the cadet chapel at VMI. General Stonewall Jackson live there and is buried in the Jackson Cemetery in town. We stayed at the KOA south of town near Natural Bridge. Just can't seem to remember much about the CG.
In the Alleghency mountains of north central Pa is a huge elk range. This is only a great place to visit if you are not looking for amusements parks, etc. It is more wilderness. The viewing ranges are near the town of Benzette. Biggest nearby town is St. Marys.
While you are in Providence RI...you are a few hours away from several day trips. Mystic Seaport in Mystic Ct is beautiful. Lots of Tall ships to see and the history is wonderful. The little city of Mystic is nice to walk around. Another day trip could be out to Cape Cod, MA. We were just out there....all of the little fishing ports....you wouldn't be far from Falmouth, Bourne or Hyannis. Just a few ideas for you...hope you have a wonderful trip.
Lots to do for that age in PA - Hershey has an amusement park www.Hersheypark.com They also have a FREE 'ride' called Chocolate World-mock tour of the factory.
Gettysburg is also interesting www.gettysburg.travel
On the eastern side is also Philadelphia, of course.
For another amusement park that has FREE admission (only pay for what rides you go on - is a family owned park with campgrounds - Knoebel's -www.knoebels.com
Many thanks toall of you for help and ideas. We head out tomorrow and though a few things are not predictable, I have a better idea of what to check out. Many thanks for your genorous contributions-this is why we love RV'ers. Photolynn
