Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
It's aproximately a six month count down until I too will join the rest of you folks. I'm thilled to find this forum because of the plethora of questions I have and will have. Currently, I am getting all the little medical things that I've put off...taken care of. And liquidating my household via e-bay and other online sources as well as local charities.
Perhaps the greatest question I have as many of you may have also had, has to with the financials involved in our great escapes. I have narrowed my choices down to two options that I'd like to toss out here in hopes of some much needed advice.
I will be a lone traveler (plus dog).
Option 1: Class C towing enclosed motorcycle trailer (Harley Ultra Glide) @ $80,000. With this option I will have to finance the coach adding a long-term payment to my travel budget.
Option 2: 27 -30' TT, to be towed by paid for Dodge Ram w/hemi. 9800# capability @ $25,000. With this option I will start out paid-in-full. (Bike should ride in back of truck).
Note: Bike is not a must...just one of those things I'm not quite ready to give up.
Two questions follow: How difficult is it to obtain financing on the road without a permanent address assuming of course good credit in case I buy TT and later decide to move up to the coach?
How many of you have started with a TT only to decide you needed more room and moved up to a coach or a larger TT?
I think you'll find the Class C and TT have about the same amount of living space, with the TT a little better due to layout of the space.
For me it would be an easy choice to go with the fully paid off solution, for two reasons: 1. No debt 2. If you decide the lifestyle isn't right for you you haven't invested a lot and will be able to re-coop some of your investment by selling the TT.
I've never been a fan of Class C's...more personal choice than anything else. For the price, I would rather go with a TT, 5th wheel or older Class A. All 3 of these RVs have a much more livable design than the Class Cs I have seen.

Debt Free.... that is the way to go! Now that being said, anyone know the best place to get a 2010 Mobile Suites financed?

Great comments and thanks. My thoughts exactly on the debt-free beginning. The company with the bike carrier also has an automatic pickup loader and are located in Texas which is my first target destination anyway. I'll only need to ramp the bike manually once. I'll continue to ask questions in the appropriate forum rooms. Thanks.
To make a very long story...very short. Sold the Harley. Traded truck for new Jeep Wrangler. Purchased small Class A (32') w/2 slides. V-10. Jeep is TOAD. Will park in yard for a few months until lease expires and I complete liquidation.
Only reason I had avoided looking at Class A's...fear of driving one especially through town. The layout is so appealing along with underneath storage...had to look. Test drove. Piece-o-cake. Easier to drive than Class C!
Had to finance but interest is a tax break and payment about that of an SUV. No payment on TOAD.
Will make a few test forays in the area (Charleston, SC) and then....??? I guess the fun part comes...where to go?
With Charleston, SC as a jumping off place, you have many short jumps to choose from that would be most enjoyable, except jumping east!
For "short jumps"
To the south is: Edisto Island, SC (Edisto Island State Park) Beaufort, SC (Hunting Island State Park) Savannah, GA (Skidaway Island State Park or River's End RV Campground on Tybee Island)
To the west is: Many commercial campgrounds and a state park at Lake Marion (www.rvparkreviews.com and type in Santee or Summerton, SC) or Frances Marion State Park
To the north is: Willow Tree RV Resort in Longs, SC Carolina Beach, NC (Carolina Beach State Park or Carolina Beach Family Campground)
You are right, now the fun part begins! Good Luck on much enjoyment.

Debt free is the only way to go. However I tried it and never went any place. I'm not debt free however we stay on the road. I have met very few who have downsized. Good Luck. GBY....
