Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We have just encounted a perplexing problem with our Wheel Masters Wheel Liners and lug/jam nuts. We have a 2005 Holiday Rambler Admiral - 30' with a Ford V-10 gas - and noticed that one of the lug/jam nuts was missing when we returned from a short trip. The wheel liner was a little loose and therefore, the hand hole edge had cut thru the stainless steel mesh on the air valve extender. Wheel Masters sent us a replacement lug/jam nut and stainless steel air extender. We took these to the local Goodyear shop and their opinion is the tire had been replaced at some point prior to our ownership and the stud to which the lug/jam nut screws on had damage to the threads. They checked two of the other lug/jam nuts and one came off easily, while the other one seemed 'stuck' and they did not want to do further damage to it, so they left it alone. Their opinion is it is okay to drive locally, but before leaving for an extended trip, all 8 of the studs should be replaced and all the Wheel Masters lug/jam nuts should be replaced on this wheel. Since we have owned this for less than a year, we do not know the total history, and we want to be safe. Has anyone else had a problem like this? All the other wheel liners are secure and all lug/jam nuts are in place. We are aware that four of the lug nuts are just covers and the other 4 are lug/jam nuts that actually hold the liner on and in place. And they should only be tightened to 40 lbs max. Does their recommendation sound reasonable?
