Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Possible trade S&B for RV

Recently I have run into several folks who are looking to either stop full-timing altogether, or looking for a home base (summer/winter).  Some are also selling their RV.

Would be nice if there was a place folks could list their S&B and what kind of RV they are looking for so others could make contact and perhaps strike a deal.

Just thinking out loud...

I've seen ads like your are talking about on the escapees forum in the RV Market Place section. The forum is located here http://www.rvnetwork.com/index.php?act=idx

The market place is the second section. I see the ads under the RVs for sale heading or RV Sites for sale or rent.

What do you think about having something similar here on RV-Dreams?  Might be useful for dreamers who are looking to sell the RV and find a S&B as well as those dreamers who want to sell their S&B and buy an RV.

I think this might be a great addition to the RV-Dreams website.  Maybe Howard will see this and give his opinion.

I'm here every day, but don't post much mainly because we're just in the waiting game trying & hoping to sell our beautiful log home on the shores of gorgeous Smith Lake in North Alabama.  Does that sound good to anyone out there???  We want so much to be able to fulltime...we're already gone 5-7 months each year so why do we need a house!

Like you, Dan, my husband is retired AF and you'll understand when I say that every 5 years we get the itch to move.  Well, we built and moved into this log home 5 years ago and it's time to move on.  Hopefully in a motorhome the next time!!

Maybe post a link to the MLS listing for your home and what your looking for in an RV. Would give me some place to direct people when I talk to them and they tell me their looking for a S&B home. The DW is a retired realtor so I will have to ask her how a person could do a swap of a motorhome for a S&B house. I'm sure it's been done before...but with the banks as tight as they are right now it's hard to say if they would be willing to make such a deal or not. I sure wouldn't want to try purchasing a S&B with a contingency on the motorhome selling.

Yep, we get hitch itch about every 4 or 5 months :) Full-timing seems well suited for military types who moved a lot during their tour of duty. We didn't actually move very much since I spent a good portion of my career on flying status and they just sent me to places rather than move the whole family.

Wouldn't the Classifieds section we have on the Forum suffice?  smile

If looking for more than that, I have mentioned previously that I'm working with a real estate broker on a pilot program where I can submit RV-Dreamer referrals (for anywhere in the country) online and have agents contact those that are buying or selling.  Though there is no obligation (until a listing agreement is signed, of course), if a referred agent is working with our RV-Dreamers, they are supposed to provide updates through the network and I can get updates and sort of monitor the process.

I've submitted three so far.

In one, the agent that got the referral had already contacted our RV-Dreamers.

In another, the agent contacted our RV-Dreamers and I believe got the listing agreement, but our sellers decided not to sell as the market comps came back too low for pricing.

And the third was Caseydee - apparently that didn't work out.  I know their beautiful property is very rural and my contacts were struggling to find a network agent in their area.  And I didn't do a very good job of following up.  Caseydee, did you ever get contacted?

I was hoping to get a bit more of a sample, before rolling out a detailed plan.  So, if anyone is interested send me an email or private message and I can let you know how it works.  This is a service I would like to offer to RV-Dreamers on a larger scale, but it needs more testing before I'm ready to do that.  biggrin

Ok, will wait for your detailed plan.

I haven't been on RV-Dreams for awhile so probably missed the teaser ;)

Hello Howard.  Yes the agent finally did contact me while we were still in the Keys.  I made arrangements for our neighbor at home in Alabama to let the agent in to see the house but she was slow in getting touch with him and following up.  Then she never contacted me after looking at our home.  Needless to say, I didn't consider that very professional on the agent's part.  We're home now and have contacted another realtor but still haven't signed a contract.  Right now we still have a FSBO box with flyers in front of the house.  We have lots of drive-bys who pick up our flyers but really nothing going on.  We have a very specialized property...log home on a gorgeous lake...that will take a specific buyer in order for us to sell.  Not everyone wants a log home and, of course, being on a premium lake, our price is rather high even though we're very willing to negotiate.  I think I need to order one of those Saint statues and bury it by the For Sale sign.

HeyDuke:

Gosh, I hope no one thought I was arrogant enough to imply that our property was "upscale".  I was only stating that not everyone wants a log home and that's what will make our property difficult to sell...in addition to the current economy.

I wish you and everyone else trying to sell their homes and move on to their dream of fulltiming good luck & a speedy sale.  Profitable sale would be nice too!!
