Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Frig door breaking

Has anyone else had problems with the bottom bracket on the frig breaking? It's a Norcold 1095 and in 2 1/2 years with this rig this is the second time the plastic bracket that fits over the pin on the bottom of the door has broken. Had it repaired a year ago and now the new one's broke. It's the oak panel door, and I think it's just too much weight for the plastic frame.

We have the same model fridge and haven't had any problem in over 4 years of full time use. The door is loaded also. What does the dealer say? Have you thought of calling Norcold?

Called Norcold today, asked if they could send the parts to us and I would make repairs myself. We have the work order from the repair a year ago with all the info. NO. You have to take it to an authorized repair facility, they have to confirm the bracket is broke and then contact Norcold for a repair authorization. Called the authorized repair shop. They don't work on our brand trailer. Told them it's still a Norcold frig. We've never worked on one of those before. OK, we're done dealing with these idiots, we'll try another repair shop tomorrow. Is it me or is the whole country getting dumber and dumber?

Good customer service is still out there but is the exception instead of the rule. Here's hoping you find the exception.

DZ...Have had the same runaround you have many times. (You didn't buy it here, so we won't repair it) I have given up on RV shops because 99% of the time I get the above response. I usually get a good result using mobile repair guys. The downside is that you need to pay for a sevice call.....but at least you get service.

Called a different shop and told them our issue, no problem we'll order the door. They called back, problem, our frig is out of warranty. Seems Norcold has a three year warranty if you have an authorized service done before two years passes. We didn't have this done so we lost the last year of the warranty. Called Norcold and asked them what a service would have done to make sure a cheap plastic door hinge didn't break. Sorry, no warranty. Call the repair shop and have them order the door. Couple days later, the part is in. $228 and change!!!! Drive 30 miles, pick up door. Five minute job removing latch and panel from old door and installing on new one, then installing new door. Norcold service sucks.
