Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hubby and I are heading to Maine this summer.....looking for any and all information that you may have to share.  We have a 40ft toyhauler, so we will need bigger sites.
That being said, we still like to hang out in the cozier places.  We park the rig and take the bikes out to explore.
Also, anyone going to be in Maine July and August??  Let me know and maybe we can hook up and have an RV Dreams campfire.  biggrin  biggrin

Hi guys!
We were in Maine last year, so won't make it this year...you will love it!!

Traveling up Route 1 along the coast is really neat, especially up past Freeport and on to Eastport. The Searsport and Belfast area is a must see...there is a Campground there on the coast...Searsport Shores that does an amazing Lobster Bake on Saturday evenings. We love the CG but it has gotten so pricey that we think next time we will stay just down the road near Belfast at The Moorings, and go over for the Lobster Bake. (You can see the photos on our blog for August 2009...the photos tell the story best)

Also, if you like fresh lobster, be sure to go to Young's Lobster Pound on the shore right there at Belfast...there is none other like it. Take your own Lobster pail and tools, pick your lobster, steamers, shrimp or whatever and they will steam it for you to eat there on the wharf at their picnic tables...YUM!:)

Oh, there are so many favorite places in Maine...we are soo jealous!!! Enjoy your trip...take warm clothes and rain gear as even July can be rainy and cool...August will be much better!

We trekked up to Maine for three straight summers and to Texas last year.  You will find many campgrounds with varying ammenities.  We camphosted at Wild Duck Campground for four months and stayed there a month the preceding year.  It is our favorite and a great base camp for the sourthern coast of Maine.

It is spotless clean! And it is shhhhhhhh quiet.  One reason it is adults only with no pool or playground.  Chris, the owner, provides a wonderful camping experience and the Mallards help.

Scarborough is located 8 miles south of Portland, Maine's largest city.  This is but an hour north of Kennebunkport and even less to Freeport and L. L. Bean.  It is a three mile trip to the beach.  There are food outlets of any kind within thirty minutes.

If you travel with children and like beauty and quiet, this is one of the best!  Further north at Bar Harbor there is quiet a selection of CGs.  Was not impressed with the KOA.  The Narrows was okay.  Make sure you ride the Mail Boat out to the Cranberry Isles.  What a day!

You shall have a wonderful experience waking up to temps in the mid-fifties in July!  Yes, it gets well into the seventies in the middle of the day.

I forgot to mention our favorite day trip - Camden.  In the mid-1950s, Peyton Place was filmed there and it has become a great destination.  Camden Hills State Park would accomodate your fiver for a day or two of dry camping.  It is adjacent to Mount Batte - beautiful!!!
